Admission to all distance education programmes of Pondicherry University is done on the basis of merit scores in the last qualifying exam. While the UG students get admission on the basis of their Class 12 scores, PG aspirants of distance learning at Pondicherry University are offered admission subject to their merit at the UG level. Admissions to distance learning courses are offered twice a year – Jan to Mar and then from Jul to Aug. Those meeting the course-wise eligibility can secure admission to this university. 

Pondicherry University offers MSc across 21 specialisations via the 17 departments under it. These specialisations include Mathematics, Statistics, Ecology, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology, among various others. This two-year course is spread over four semesters of six months each. For admission to all these courses, students must have completed their Bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects with a minimum of 55% aggregate.

The application fee for PhD for the General category candidates is INR 1,000. However, for SC and ST students, the application fee is INR 500. Students can pay the application fee online while registering for the course. Additionally, PH and transgender candidates are exempted from paying the application fee. SC and ST category students are required to submit a relevant certificate and PH & transgender candidates are required to submit a relevant certificate from a Govt. Medical Officer to avail the application fee exemption.

The campus of Pondicherry University is spread over 800 acres of land facing the Bay of Bengal on the East Coast Road. It is located in Puducherry, a union territory of India. Pondicherry University, at its campus, does not offer any undergraduate programme. However, it does offer Integrated MA and Integrated MSc courses of five-year duration. The application fee of MCA for all category candidates is INR 300. Students can pay the application fee online while registering for the course. In addition to the application and tiotion fee, there are several other components included in the overall fee structure for MCA. Starting 2022, the admission process for integrated PG and PG courses at Pondicherry University shifted to CUET UG and CUET PG-based. For admission to various UG and PG courses at Pondicherry University, students need to follow an admission process that consists of mainly four steps. The cutoff for Pondicherry University is competitive, but it is not as competitive as some other universities in India. The cutoff depends on the course you are applying for, your category, and the difficulty of the entrance exam. In General, the cutoff for undergraduate courses at Pondicherry University is lower than the cutoff for postgraduate courses.
