PUBDET 2025 Pattern: WBJEEB decides the pattern of PUBDET. The PUBDET pattern 2025 informs us of the mode, medium, total questions, types of questions, marking scheme, etc. of this state-level entrance exam. It is important that the aspirants are familiar with the PUBDET pattern so that their preparations are efficient. According to the PUBDET 2025 pattern, the questions are asked in English across subjects except for language courses like Hindi and Bengali. PUBDET is an offline test that is conducted for admissions to BA and BSc programmes offered at Presidency University. It is expected that the exam will be conducted in the first week of July 2025. Q:   Is PUBDET for undergraduate courses only?

A:

Yes. PUBDET is conducted by the Presidency University in order to offer candidates admission in Humanities and Science streams at the undergraduate level.  PUBDET comprises separate entrance exams that are conducted to offer admission to aspirants in different Science and humanities programmes offered at Presidency University at the undergraduate level. While appearing for PUBDET exam, candidates can apply for a maximum of any two subjects.

Q:   What is the academic eligibility criteria for PUBDET exam?

A:

Candidates interested to appear in PUBDET exam are required to check the eligibility criteria for the exam mentioned below. Check out the academic qualification below:

  • Candidates should have cleared higher secondary examination (XII) that is conducted by CBSE, West Bengal or equivalent exam, not before 2020.
  • The candidate must pass XII with at least five recognised subjects, including English language and excluding Environmental Science. The aggregate is to be calculated in the best four recognised subjects.

PUBDET 2025 Pattern

In every subject, all questions in the exam will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four options against each question. There will be 50 questions in each paper with full marks of 100 and the time allotted will be 90 minutes.

Q:   Is PUBDET hard to crack?

A:

As per the previous year's entrance exam, candidates found the PUBDET entrance exam moderate and simple. Students have to study from the syllabus as taught in class X and class XII. Candidates can check the PUBDET preparation tips below.

The exam body, WBJEEB, has not announced the dates of PUBDET 2025 yet. However, it is likely that the exam will be coducted in the first week of July 2025. For 2024, this state-level entrance exam was conducted on July 7. Applications for the same were open from February 15, 2024 to March 18, 2024.

PUBDET 2025 Marking Scheme

In the PUBDET exam, for every correct answer marked by an aspirant, he/she will be awarded 2 marks and for every wrong answer marked ½ marks will be deducted from the total score. If an aspirant does not mark any answer for a question, zero marks will be given. Further, the official website informs, “For any combination of response with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks”.

PUBDET 2025 - Points to Remember

Examinees must remember the following points with respect to the exam pattern of PUBDET 2025.

  • Candidates are advised to go through the subject syllabus carefully before appearing for the PUBDET entrance exam.
  • Questions are to be answered on the OMR sheet. Candidates are advised to fill in the answer dots correctly.
  • Candidates must darken the circle with a black/ blue ballpoint pen.
  • If the circle is not filled correctly, the answer will be deemed invalid.
  • Candidates cannot mark more than one circle in the OMR sheet.
  • Candidates are advised to reach the exam venue well on time and carry their admit cards along with them.

The PUBDET exam will be conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper test. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts the Presidency University Bachelor's Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET) in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in BA and BSc  (honours) programmes offered at Presidency University, Kolkata. Q:   What documents are required at the exam centre?

A:

The candidate has to carry their admit card, passport size photograph and any government authorised ID such as Aadhar Card/Driving License/Voter's ID. The allocation of the PUBDET exam centres was based on the choices gave by the candidate during the online form fill up. However, the centre mentioned was final and no changes were made. No request for change of allocated centre was entertained under normal circumstances.

Q:   Is there negative marking in PUBDET?

A:

Yes, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer entered. A total of 2 marks is awarded per correct answer entered.

No, the PUBDET result is not published in the form of a merit list. The exam body announces the result in the form of Rank Cards for each examinee separately. They must log on to the official website to download their rank cards. These rank cards must also be produced during the counselling session.

The application fee for PUBDET is INR 500 (excluding bank charges for internet services). Applicants must pay this fee while filling the application form. It can be paid using Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card or by cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan.
