The scope for civil engineers in the government sector is vast and promising, driven by the continuous focus on infrastructure development and urbanization. Civil engineers play a crucial role in major government projects, including highways, bridges, railways, and smart cities, under initiatives like PM Gati Shakti and the Smart City Mission. They can find opportunities in Public Works Departments (PWD), urban development authorities, and organizations like the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Military Engineer Services (MES). Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as NTPC, ONGC, and GAIL also hire civil engineers for large-scale construction and maintenance projects. Recruitment is typically through competitive exams like UPSC ESE, GATE, SSC JE, and state-level public service commission exams. With increasing investment in sustainable and smart infrastructure, job opportunities in areas such as water resource management, urban planning, and disaster management are also expanding. The steady demand and diverse roles make civil engineering a stable and rewarding career path in the government sector.

RVCE has different eligibility criteria for admission to undergraduate programs offered by this college. The eligibility criterion for the B.E. programme is that a candidate should have cleared the class 12th exam with at least 65% marks in Mathematics and Physics separately. Also, the candidate must have at least 70% aggregate marks in Maths and Science separately. As you had mentioned if you do not have 70% marks in your class 10th board exams, then it will be hard to qualify through RVCE. Still, you can explore other engineering colleges with different eligibility criteria or diploma courses with lateral entry options.

However, Ramaiah Institute of Technology provides INR 6 LPA as an average placement package to the M.Tech graduates, and the RV College of Engineering Mtech average placement package stands at INR 7 LPA.
