Hence, the total course period becomes 5.5 years for MBBS students. In this one-year compulsory internship, students gain practical experience in patient care, diagnostics, treatment and management under the supervision of experienced doctors and healthcare professionals. A stipend of INR 13,500 per month is also paid to the MBBS interns at SRM Medical College.

In 2021, it was 9,12,490 for the General All India category students. It can be seen that the cut-off witnessed a decreasing trend over the past three years. The cut-off fluctuates because of a variety of factors, like the number of students appearing for NEET, difficulty level of the exam, total number of MBBS seats, number of students choosing SRM Medical College as their first preference college, etc.

Admission to most programs is by a national entrance exam administered by authorized or statutory boards or organizations, or by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (previously SRM University). A few programs have direct admissions. Apart from the aforementioned, obtaining the minimal marks in the qualifying exam is another prerequisite for admission eligibility.Even if they choose not to take the SRMJEEE, any applicant who meets the requirements for the SAT or IIT JEE Main will be admitted straight.
