Both the colleges are equally good, but I will vote for Thapar University, Patiala because of the standard which the University has maintained since its establishment. I will try to distinguish between both colleges with the help of certain parameters:

• ADMISSION PROCESS: Thapar University admits its students on the basis of JEE main marks. Usually cutoff goes higher for Computer engineering (around 180). While SRM University conducts its own examination called SRMJEE.
• CAMPUS: SRM University has a very good and beautiful campus. Student intake is higher at SRM University. 
• Thaper don't have any management quota seat whereas SRM had few seats reserved for the management quota. The fee is almost similar in both colleges. And location-wise Chennai has the upper hand over Patiala.

BTech from THAPAR UNIVERSITY is worth it. It is one of the oldest universities and has a good brand name. It has one of the most talented and finest faculty with good experience. Yes, Thapar University also offers a four-year full-time BE course at the undergraduate level covering 14 specialisations. Admission to this course is similar to the BTech course. TIET BE/ BTech admission is based on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam, except for BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering. Thapar University 50% of seats for BE admission will be filled on the basis of JEE Main score and the rest 50% of the seats shall be filled on the basis of marks secured in Class 10, 12 and graduation.

The admission dates for the BTech programme at Thapar University are usually released after the release of JEE Mains admission dates. Currently, the admission for the 2024 batch is closed. However, as per the JEE Mains dates the examination for session one and session two will tentatively begin from January 2025 and April 2025. Hence, it is expected that Thapar University will release the admission dates for the 2025 batch accordingly.

Thapar University offers four-year full-time BE/BTech courses at the undergraduate level. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology admission to all the BE/BTech courses is based on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam except BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering. TIET BTech admission to Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering is based on valid NEET 2023 marks, followed by a counselling process. TIET 50% of the seats will be filled basis of NEET scores and the rest 50% of the seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks obtained in Class 12 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and, Biology.

Thapar University BE/BTech fee range between INR 8.85 Lakh and INR 14.58 lakh. The fee mentioned here is the total tuition fee and is taken from an unofficial source. Hence, is indicative.
