For admission to MSc course at Uttarakhand Open University, candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. For Uttarakhand Open University B.Ed admissions, candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate either in a Bachelor's or master's degree in order to be eligible for the B.Ed course at Uttarakhand Open University. There is a five percent relaxation given for reserved category candidates. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories can obtain minimum of 45% aggregate in their last qualifying exam conducted at UG/ PG level. UOU Applications are invited for admission two times a year: Summer Session and Winter Session. Admission applications for one session are not valid for the other session. Uttarakhand Open University (also known as UOU Haldwani) was established in 2005. UOU courses are recognised by Distance Education Council (DEC) and UGC. UOU Haldwani consists of a total of 14 schools in different streams of education. UOU offers its programmes through 240+ Study Centres established at different locations in the state under eight Regional Centres at Dehradun, Roorkee, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Dwarahat, Bageshwar, Haldwani and Pithoragarh.

UOU offers BA, BBA, BSc, BCom, BCA, etc., at the UG level and MA, MSc, MA, MCA and MCom at the PG level. Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) is the only Open University established in the state of Uttarakhand with an objective to impart distance learning education at the UG and PG levels.
