Becoming a travel journalist:
-Choose the right course of study. You can go for a four-year general journalism degree at a top journalism school, which will certainly open doors, or consider an online course specifically for travel journalism (as well as travel photography) which can open the right doors.
-Decide the type of journalism you would like to pursue such as newspapers, magazines, television, or online.
-Networking, networking, networking! Speak to as many people as you can. Who knows, some of them may become your mentor.
-Get your name out there. Send out resumes to different media outlets across India. This is a great way to build relationships with editors, publishers, producers, directors, etc.

Career opportunities for Travel & Tourism degree holders exist both in the public and private sector. In the public sector, there are opportunities in the Directorates and Departments of Tourism of the center and the state as Officers, information assistants, Tourist guides etc. Another good prospect for qualified tourism professionals are in the private sector with travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, hotels , transport and cargo companies etc.
In the Tourism Department there are jobs as Reservation & counter staff, Sales and marketing staff, Tour Planners and Tour guides. To enter in to this field you need to pursue a professional course in this sector. There are lot of colleges which offer MBA in travel and tourism management. If you are interested in traveling and tourism take BBA first and continue your higher studies in MBA -Travel and Tourism. Also, lot of tourism related courses are available in foreign countries.
