VIT Chennai BTech admissions take place through the VIT Chennai Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE). There is no option of direct admission as everyone has to appear for the exam and secure a valid score to be eligible for admission.In addition to that, only those candidates are eligible to appear for the VITEEE exam who have a minimum aggregate of 60% in their Class 12 exams. Therefore, candidates can apply for admission at VIT Chennai through Class 12 exams but their selection would be based on VITEEE entrance score.

BTech at VIT Chennai is four years long. The BTech programme follows the semester model, which means that each year of the programme is divided into two semesters in each year.
