No, this is not true about VIT Vellore. Government of India has recognised VIT, Vellore as an Institution of Eminence. This is a move from government. You can definitely pursue your B.Tech course in VIT University, Vellore and that too by getting admission directly in the second year of engineering course through lateral entry scheme. For this, you need to appear for the lateral entry test conducted by the VIT University and secure good rank.

There is no entrance exam at VIT Vellore for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture (4 years duration) course. The admissions are based on merit in the qualifying exam (12th).
The eligibility criteria is 10+2 with minimum 70% of aggregate marks with PCM/PCB/PCA (60% for SC/ST).
