These are all fake rumors who I aslo believed before taking admission here but let me tell u my friend VIT Vellore rules are very strict and they do not allowed such things in vit. Last sem 4 students got suspended because they bring alcohol to campus and got caught so they suspended for one semester with fine. After taking admission, they give you three affidavits:
1) No ragging
2) No alcohol or drugs
3) No property damage
Otherwise, you will be given punishment for that.

Yes, you will get IT but in a third or fourth category that is you have to pay more for your desired branch. Let me explain you the admission system here. Rank in VIT to get admission should be 90,000, so you can get admission in VIT from the 6th category as well. There are various categories as well. With each category admission, fees go high. First category closed till 15,000 rank, and you can get CSE till 9000 rank and IT till 11000 rank, but there are 2nd category as well, if you want CSE, but you have to pay more for that. But if you want branch in first category in this, much rank then u will get civil, electronics. Hope this helps. Yes, you may get CSE core because CSE core seats are full till rank 7000 but you will get CSE with specialisation but in my opinion, it is better to take IT branch because syllabus are same and placement wise also CSE core and IT branch both are beneficial. For admission, you need to fulfil the following criteria:
The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1994, if he/she belongs to the open or OBC-NCL category and, on or after October 1, 1988, if he/she belongs to the SC, ST or PwD category.
The candidate should have qualified i.e. obtained a rank in UCEED 2018. The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (class 12th or equivalent) in 2017 or 2018. Those who appeared for the first time in the qualifying examination in 2017 or earlier are not eligible, I don't know much about this.

This is the newest campus of VIT and last year students got CSE below 1 Lacs rank easily and I think, its not better option to take admission in Bhopal campus because fees structure similar to VIT Vellore and Chennai campus somewhat. And its infrastructure not fully completed and still its under development.
If you think to take admission in VIT, then you should refer Vellore or Chennai campus now and if you are not getting this campus, then you should try other university or college. Better go for SRM Chennai (main campus).
