Hello lucky,
I wouldn't say there is surely the availability of defense quota - but the environment is healthy. You should reach out to Director of Admissions (UG/PG) and inquire about it. If you have a promising profile, there could be a way.

Hello Ashwani, at VIT Vellore, there is a huge advantage that you can be placed in a good company for all the courses. First, ECE ( internet of things & sensors) as the name implies it is really a core subject. VIT offers many recruiters from core companies. but it is not sure whether all will get placed if they choose really core courses like these. Be wise and see the list of recruiters and decide.
Above all, VIT Vellore is a student friendly institute so there will be a good placement and training. So no need to worry.
Visit www.vit.ac.in/placement for the list of recruiters.

For academic year 2016-17, the candidates in the top merit slab of 1 to 20,000 were called for counselling on different days in the first phase of counselling. Candidates are offered admission to different branches at the two campuses based on their percentile merit. The closing rank in one phase of counselling of VITEEE 2017 for a particular branch can be termed as VITEEE cutoff for that branch.

Hello Lokesh,
Both the colleges are the top most colleges of India so you may consider any one of them, however, if you are determined and have that passion to work hard, then definitely take a break for JEE Advanced.
All the best.
