Along with on-campus employment provided by the university to students who need it, students can also choose to work part-time. According to law, those who hold a US student visa can work up to 20 hours a week when school is in session and 40 hours per week during school breaks. Off-campus work is defined as work undertaken at a location affiliated with the school. Thus, students can work at the university bookstore, cafeteria, and other facilities where students are allowed to help.

To get an off-campus or on-campus job, students will need to apply at least 30 days before classes begin. They will need to talk to the DSO to apply and get a letter of approval. 

Visa rules: Students who fall under the F1 visa category and have completed at least one full academic year of their current programme of study can work off-campus as well. They will need to ensure that their economic hardship qualifies according to the rules and regulations of the Department of Homeland Security.
