How to apply to UG and PG courses?

International applicants need to apply directly to the university through its application portal. However, the university has separate application portals for each programme. Applicants can visit these portals as per their chosen programme and start their applications process:

  • UG Portal: idp.unibocconi.it/idp/profile/SAML2/Redirect/SSO?execution=e2s1

Some programmes may select applicants based on their performance in an interview round or video presentation. The interview round allows students to openly express themselves and talk about their profiles which might increase their chances of getting selected.

When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?

Bocconi University will screen and select applications within a couple of months or weeks, depending on how early or late you have applied for the programme/programmes. Some programmes require you to undertake the Bocconi Test, and the results of this test are usually declared within three weeks following the test date. The university will notify students about their selection via email. Otherwise, they can log in to the 'My Application' portal to check the status of their application.

Student Diversity & Preferred Profile

What are the chances to get into this university?

Bocconi University has an acceptance rate of 38%, which indicates that the competition is quite intense. International applicants are recommended to apply as soon as possible. As a matter of fact, early applications can have greater chance to be successful, to meet financial aid/scholarships opportunities, and have enough time for student visa processing.

UG Selection Process

International applicants are asked to upload their CV/resume and motivational letter, as these might be considered as additional factors in the evaluation of the applicant's overall profile. As per the university, UG selection is based on the following criteria:

Criteria

Weightage Given

Selection test score

(Bocconi online test or SAT/ACT test)

55%

Third-last and second-last year GPA

43%

Language certificates

2%

PG Selection Process

International candidates are selected on the basis of a process that takes into consideration all elements of their profile and focusing on these three compulsory elements of evaluation:

  • Results of the GMAT (or GRE) test: Provides a fair and objective way to compare applications. No particular scores are required to participate to the selection.
  • GPA achieved in UG studies: Undergraduate GPA and transcripts are an indication of the applicant's previous academic performance. No particular scores are required to participate to the selections.
  • Evaluation of the resume and Personal Statement: The admissions committee will evaluate the various documents and information included in the dossier and verify the applicant's overall profile, experience and knowledge. Motivational letters/CV supporting the candidate's application must be in English.

Applicants can also upload a video presentation (optional) in English on the Kira Talent platform as an additional element to your application. CEMS MIM, CHINA MIM, or ESSEC-Bocconi Double Degrees require further elements of evaluation, which strongly weighs qualitative/motivational aspects of the applicants.

Part Time Work While Studying

Can I work while studying here?

The university provides work opportunities on the campus to international students while they pursue their studies. Do note that students are not allowed to work for more than 200 hours during the AY 2020-21 due to the ongoing pandemic. However, work hour restrictions may change depending on the pandemic situation. Students who want to take up an internship can look for relevant opportunities at the Career Service Infopoint webpage and prepare themselves for job interviews. Students with valid student visas and permission from the university might also seek jobs outside the university campus. EU students stand a better chance of working outside the university as fewer restrictions apply to them.
