The massive protests of US students against Israel's war with Hamas resulted in the arrest of more than 550 protesters. There have been reports of violent clashes between the protestors and police on campuses.
The campuses are witnessing violent clashes between the police and protestors. To dismantle the protest, the college administrations have called police officials and they have deployed tasers and tear gas against student protesters at Atlanta's Emory University, as reported by NDTV.
Despite over 550 students arrested so far, the protest is refusing to die down. Atlanta police and Georgia troopers are leading a joint operation on the campus. The institute statement confirmed that within minutes of the authorities entering the campus, a total of 28 people were arrested.
The videos of police clashing with the students are shocking, said the school president. He added "horrified horrified that members of our community had to experience and witness such interactions." added the president.
"Police immediately began to force people to move. I felt like I was in a war zone, with all the police and their weapons, the rubber bullets. We were pushed away," Emil' Keme, professor of English and Indigenous studies told the Guardian describing what happened as soon as cops entered the Emory campus.
Media reports and activists have claimed that the protests have been largely peaceful, then also the officials are using tear gases.
