University of Birmingham, Birmingham City FC Enter Strategic Alliance
Study In UK: The strategic partnership between the University of Birmingham and Birmingham City FC will create new opportunities in education, health, and research.
University of Birmingham and Birmingham City Football Club (BCFC) have entered a strategic partnership for the city's success. The alliance is expected to create opportunities in education and health, research, raise aspirations across the city.
The partnership will drive forward new and smarter ways of working using the expertise across medicine, data science, physical performance, rehabilitation, and psychology. The alliance will provide job opportunities, internships, and access to local football club to 8000 staff of the university and around 40,000 students.
University of Birmingham Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adam Tickell said, “With long-established roots in Birmingham allied to a global outlook and reach, we see strong connections and opportunities with BCFC. We will work together, using our expertise to help the club advance its mission to become a ‘beacon of excellence for Birmingham on the global stage’. We are looking forward to playing our part in this success story for our region.”
Professor Deborah Longworth, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Education added, “We have a long and proud history of sporting success, from offering the UK’s first sport science degree course in 1946 and research into rehabilitation, physical activity and sport performance, to staff, students and alumni competing at an international level, most recently at the Olympic and Paralympics Games in Paris last summer. This collaboration has huge potential for us, BCFC and the wider Birmingham community.
The students of digital media and communications will have the opportunity to work with the football club in various projects."
Birmingham Law School Offers Free Legal Advice For Victims Of Fraud
The University of Birmingham has launched a new clinic to offer free legal advice to victims of identity or financial fraud.
Amy Tabari, Assistant Professor, Solicitor and Deputy Head of the Centre for Employability, Professional Legal Education and Research (Pro Bono) at Birmingham Law School said, “From phone scams, phishing emails and false social media password security alerts our technology provides a multitude of ways for people to steal our identity, clone our bankcards or convince us to hand over significant sums of money.”
“When you realise you have been scammed it can feel embarrassing or isolating, but victims of fraud are not alone. There are more victims of fraud than any other type of crime. It can happen to anyone at any time. If you are a victim of fraud, it is important to know what legal action you can take, which can feel overwhelming. Our clinic provides a judgement-free space to get free legal advice, so people know what legal tools are at their disposal, should they need them,” added Amy Tabari.
