Q:   How can Indian students get into NUS?

A: 

The minimum program-wise eligibility criteria that international applicants need to meet before applying to the National University of Singapore are given below:

Undergraduate Level Eligibility Requirements

Basic Education:

  • Class 12 Central Board or other State Board with impressive grades in all five major subjects (including English)

     requirements can be waived off in exceptional cases such as in the case of applicants holding a work experience of more than 10 years. In this case, they must also show their powerful performance in academic history and score impressively well in the interview rounds.

Q:   What is the application fee of NUS?

A: 

The application fee is S$20 (plus the applicable Goods and Services Tax).  Please keep in mind that money must be received by the application's deadline. The application cost is non-refundable. Several modes are available:

  • S$10 by electronic payment using Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, AliPay, or PayNow. This payment method does not accept debit cards. After you have submitted your application, you can make your payment using the Online Payment option on the Acknowledgement Page. You can also make your payment by logging in to the Applicant Portal with your application number and PIN.

In addition to this, international students also need to fulfill the other requirements set by the university like submitting their GMAT / GRE scores along with proof of English language proficiency. You also need to submit a set of official transcripts of your previous academic credentials issued by the registrar of the institution you attended. Your transcripts should be in the English language. Along with this, you also need to submit a Resume clearly indicating dates of employment in Month/Year format.

Q:   Does NUS accept international students?

A: 

Yes, it does accept international students. If you are a foreign applicant seeking admission to NUS. In that case, you should have completed or be finishing high school, that is, at least twelve years of general education by July of the application year. Applicants with Indian standard 12 Central, ISC, State, and other board qualifications should submit standard 12 exam results (or most recent high school results if they will only be completing high school after the application closing date) and a good pass in five subjects, including English. Applicants must provide original copies of their identification, high school results, secondary school results, and other material papers submitted in support of their application when they arrive in Singapore for enrolling at NUS.

Undergraduate Applicants:

International applicants need to follow these steps to apply to an undergraduate programme at NUS:

Step 2: Enter personal details and contact information.

Step 3: Enter details of academic qualifications.

Step 4: Enter information on university/tertiary education.

Step 5: Enter the information on all outstanding achievements.

Step 6: Insert the programme details and paste the application material in the boxes provided.

Step 7: In this step, input the following:

Intellectually challenging place.
Tips: Students should be ready to study a lot. They should be mentally ready to take difficult subjects and work on a lot of assignments and projects in all subjects simultaneously. The most important thing is the heavy competition you will be facing from your peers. Don't be afraid of it, but don't take it easy as well. I didn't avail of any scholarships. I am very satisfied with this university.
Likes (Student Life): I spend most of my time studying at college. I enjoy studying, working on projects and coding. I am also part of many clubs and thus I am happy with my current student life. Almost all events like sports, music, traditional events and many more are organised in the college. I participate in events that I like. There are technical and non-technical clubs, both on the campus.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I find more restaurants serving Chinese cuisine in my area (Clementi). However, if you travel to places like Little India, you will definitely find more Indian food stalls there, but as you move away from Little India, the count of stalls reduces. In my college, I find hardly 2-3 Indian food stalls.

NUS is a university which rewards you for what you put into it.
Tips: You can get a lot of scholarships/bond to lower the cost of tuition fees at NUS. I think I'm pretty adaptable, so transitioning to living in Singapore was not a problem at all, and while there have been high highs and low lows, all in all, I'm quite happy with my university life.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The statistics faculty is very diverse and quite friendly. The course material taught is a great balance between practical and theoretical knowledge. The other courses I've taken outside of Science have also been amazing with some great faculty. Of course, there will be some professors you may not connect with, but I've not had a problem like that really.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I can't really answer this question accurately as I haven't graduated yet, but from what I've seen of previous classes you will definitely be able to find a good job in Singapore as long as you are applying to a good selection of companies. The employment rate in my faculty is extremely high.
