Studyabroad.shiksha.com got in touch with Siddhant Jain – to know about the challenges he faced while processing his study abroad application during the coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19. Siddhant is looking forward to pursuing his MSc Computing (Data Analytics) from the Technological University Dublin in Ireland. The excerpts of the conversation follow.

Q. Why did you choose to study abroad? Did Covid-19 affect your decision at any point?

Siddhant: I chose to study abroad mainly due to their practical and industrial way of teaching instead of the otherwise conventional method of teaching. COVID-19 did not affect my decision to study abroad at any point, all it did was delay my plans by a few months.

Q. Was this particular country your only choice as a study destination or did you consider other countries as well?

Siddhant: I chose Ireland for Data science as all the big Data Science companies have expanded their offices there and Tech Industries are booming in the country. Ireland is a bit student and pocket friendly as compared to other countries. I also thought about applying to some Canadian colleges but eventually opted to study in Ireland.

Siddhant: I initially started by researching all the top universities in Ireland rank-wise and course content-wise. Then consulted Swati from the team of Shiksha Study Abroad counselors. Henceforward, the process was a smooth ride.

Q. Which exams were you required to take?

Siddhant: I was required to appear for my IELTS test.

Q. How was your Visa interview? What questions did the Visa officer ask you?

Siddhant: Ireland does not conduct a visa interview they just have document submission as part of their Ireland Study Visa process.

Q. What challenges did you face due to the COVID-19 lockdown? Was it difficult to arrange finances?

Siddhant: Due to COVID-19 there was an evident delay in arranging all the documents. Also, the bank took longer than usual to approve the loan amount.
