APS Certificate: From November 2022 onwards, Germany has made it mandatory for all Indian students to get their academic documents verified by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS India) and obtain authenticity certificates (APS Certificate in Germany) before applying for their German Student Visas. Candidates applying for their Germany Student Visa should note that the APS certificate has become a mandatory document that needs to be submitted as part of their Germany Study Visa application process.

What is APS?

Akademische Prüfstelle or APS (Academic Evaluation Centre) is a joint institution of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Embassy’s cultural department. The APS is present in China, Vietnam and now in India. APS China was established in 2001, APS Vietnam was established in 2007 and now APS India has got established in 2022. APS India is a gateway to German Universities for Indian students looking to study in Germany from India.

What does APS do?

The main function of the APS or the Academic Evaluation Centre is to check the authenticity of educational documents and their corresponding educational certificates of Indian students wanting to study in Germany and issue authenticity certificates. According to the German Missions, starting November 1, 2022, APS certificates have become a mandatory part of the documents to be submitted along with your German study visa application.

Steps to Get your APS Certificate

In this section, we are going to be discussing the steps to apply for your APS Certificate.

Step 1: Candidates are required to visit the APS India official website and familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations.

Step 2: They would be then required to gather the documents they would need as part of the German university admission process. Candidates should note that all transcripts should be in the English language. Documents in other languages will have to be translated into English before submission.

Step 3: Register on the official APS India website and pay the APS India fee online of INR 18,000.

Step 4: Candidates would be required to send their documents either via courier or in person to APS India for the academic evaluation of their certificates. Candidates should note that the academic evaluation process could take about three weeks and applicants should track the application status online.
