Established in 1909, Arkansas State University is a public university located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA. The campus size of the university is 1,376 acres. It has more than 14,000 students. History
As discussed above, A-State University was founded in 1909. It developed from an Agricultural School. By the 1920s, academic work on campus evolved into a junior college curriculum. Despite the Great Depression in the 1930s, student enrollment at the university grew. In the year 1955, graduate programs at the master’s level were started to be offered. In the 1960s, the university’s campus and academic programs continued to grow.
The university’s athletic prowess came into being in the 1970s, with international recognition coming through the Track and Field program. Then, in 2015, the Humanities and Social Science building, the third largest instructional building on a university campus in Arkansas was opened. In Dec 2018, the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education elevated the university category, “Doctoral Universities: High-Research Activity”.
