Q:   Is the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, BC good for international students?

A: 

College of the Rockies is located in the British Columbia Rocky Mountains. The region has beautiful forests for hiking, famous hot springs resorts, and a few of Canada’s the finest skiing and snowboarding areas. This college offers the following:

  • Very small class sizes
  • Affordable tuition and living cost
  • Extra support from faculty and staff

Q:   Does the College of the Rockies offer PGWP?

A: 

If the students graduate from an academic programme of COTR, they can apply for a post-graduation work permit. To be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, the applicants should meet the following conditions:

  • Successfully completed a Certificate of at least 8 months in length or a 2-year Diploma, or the 4-year BBA degree from the College of the Rockies
  • Note that a 3-year work permit is available to students who have completed a 2-year Diploma or the 4-year BBA degree
  • In case, the programme was less than 2 years (Certificate), then the work permit length cannot be longer than the length of your program
  • Also, make sure that you are eligible for PGWP before applying for the same. You have 180 days after your college issues the final marks to apply for a PGWP
  • Also, students must have a valid Canada study permit

Q:   How many students go to College of the Rockies?

A: 

By the 2022/23 academic year, the enrollment at College of the Rockies have risen to more than 2,300 full-time equivalent students at all the campuses. There are around 200 international full-time equivalent students from more than 30 countries. A number of programs are offered by COTR. These programs are offered at Diploma, Certificate, and Associate level. One bachelor’s level programme is also offered.

Q:   How did the College of the Rockies name derive?

A: 

The history of College of the Rockies goes back to the year 1971, when a vocational school was established that would serve the East Kootenay region. In 1975, East Kootenay Community College was established. The first classes of the college began in 1975. Then, in the year 1982, the Cranbrook campus was opened. In May 1995, a request from East Kootenay Community College to change its name to the College of the Rockies was approved.

Q:   What is the acceptance rate for the College of the Rockies?

A: 

As per the unofficial sources, College of the Rockies acceptance rate is 100%. This means that the college is less selective at the time of admission. So, the applicants who have an exceptional academic record have a higher chance of getting admission to this college. To further increase the chances of admission, the applicants must meet the entry requirements and application requirements. The general academic requirement is to have completed a secondary school education. Also, the applicants must have the English language score too. Accepted test scores are PTE / TOEFL / IELTS.

Q:   Who is eligible for the College of the Rockies International Student Excellence Scholarship?

A: 

The scholarship amount of the College of the Rockies International Student Excellence Scholarship is CAD 2,000 (Around INR 1.2 lakh). International students who meet the below-given eligibility requirements could avail this scholarship:

  • This scholarship is for international students who have a GPA of 75% or higher grade average
  • Additionally, the students must have community involvement, a reference from an instructor or employer and are thinking to enroll in the university studies programs such as Tourism and Recreation Management, Business Administration or other programs as approved by the awards committee

Q:   How to apply for College of the Rockies?

A: 

To apply for College of the Rockies, the applicants are required to follow the steps given below:

  • First of all, choose the programme in which admission has to be taken. Check all the entry requirements
  • Then, complete the application form online. Pay the application fee of CAD 100 and documents that have to be submitted
  • Lastly, accept the admission offer by paying the fees (if applicable)
  • After the submission of the fees, the applicants will receive a Letter of Acceptance
  • Lastly, apply for the study permit
  • Notify the study permit status to the college and register for classes

Q:   How much is the application fee for the College of the Rockies?

A: 

College of the Rockies application fee is CAD 100 (Around 6,100). Along with the application, the documents that have to be submitted are academic transcripts, English language proficiency score, any other document (if applicable). The applications for COTR can be made via Education Planner BC. After applying the successful applicants are going to receive an official offer of admission and payment information letter via email.

Q:   How long does it take to get an offer letter from the College of the Rockies?

A: 

After the submission of the application and application fee, the College of the Rockies will email within two weeks to inform about the admission status. More instructions shall be included in the email sent by the college. The COTR application timeline is given below:

A:
