About College of the Rockies
The origin of College of the Rockies goes back to the year 1971 when a vocational school was established that would serve the East Kootenay region. In 1975, East Kootenay Community College was established. In the same year, the first classes began. In 1982, the Cranbrook campus was opened. In May 1995, a request from East Kootenay Community College to change its name to the College of the Rockies was approved. Furthermore, in 2010, the college’s four-year degree, BBA in Sustainable Business Practices started being offered.
College of the Rockies is a public college and has a total of 7 campuses. Cranbrook is home to 2 campuses. The main campus houses the majority of the college’s administrative departments, student services, and trade programs. The Gold Creek campus is home to the college’s Continuing Education Health and Safety courses and Timber framing program.
