Nipissing University History
Nipissing University was first originated in 1947 when some of the residents of the North Bay had formed a committee with the goal of establishing a university in the city. By the year 1967, Northeastern University had changed its name to Nipissing College after signing an affiliation agreement with Laurentian University. Nipissing University had later received its charter status as an independent university in the year 1992 and had started granting baccalaureate degrees to students.
