Master of Engineering (ME) - Computer Engineering Specialization - Batch of 2024

Choose the right university and course that aligns with your academics and career goal.
Tips: Before joining this college students should perform proper research on the course or the specialisation they want to take and what opportunities it will open for them. If you think it does not align properly with the industry requirements needed to get a job, go for a better university. This should be the main focus when selecting a university. Other priorities are safety and good community. I could not secure any scholarships, although I have heard it is easy to get TA and RA positions under professors, so try to opt for it.

Master of Computer Information Systems (MCIS) - Batch of 2024

One of the best underrated Universities in US
Tips: Very good University and has great ranking but the weather is not good sometimes it can be managed by taking a few measures. Best faculty, have great facilities to work and have a great campus life keeping all this aside the fee is a bit expensive but if you can afford it then it is a great option.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Some of the most important topics in the industry will be taught to us by professionals who are highly skilled and knowledgeable in the field. We have on campus and only both have great exposure and all the assignments and exams are straight out of what we learnt in the class.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The role that the university plays in this area is completely empty. You alone are responsible for it. If you are doing a Ph.D. then the university will process your green card, but for Masters or UG, you should be the one to get those through your employers.

M.S. in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2025
3.8
Safe, inclusive environment, beautiful campus, amazing research activities.
Tips: The first semester was really hard due to several factors. The education system is very much different here, so adapting to the new system takes time. The climate is also different here. However, the university staff and locals in Fort Collins city are very welcoming and helpful. When it comes to academics, submission of the academics within the deadline without engaging in any plagiarism practices is very important. There may be multiple hard assignments in the same week to complete if 2-3 core courses are chosen simultaneously. Therefore, discussing with the academic advisor or other students who have completed at least a semester prior to finalizing the courses is important. There are many scholarship and assistantship opportunities available in the university, which should be applied beforehand and maintaining good communication with professors helps in getting graduate assistantship roles.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of options for part time opportunities in the campus, starting from an average pay of $13.5 per hour. International students in F1 category are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week on campus. For part-time work off-campus, a special paper is required, which may vary in different universities. Managing part-time work along with the studies is a bit difficult during the first two semesters. It depends on the nature of the coursework chosen. However, most of the international students are managing part-time work and academics pretty well, so it shouldn't be that hard.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): As of now the wait time for permanent immigration for Indians under the H1B category is 15-20 years, which is expected to increase further in the future. The visa renewal and extension procedures are time-consuming and have a lot of uncertain dynamics associated with them. Getting an H1B visa itself, in the first place, is a huge challenge. In short, each stage of visa procedures is painful and extremely uncertain.

Learn about the Mid Western culture before coming
Tips: The mid-western culture is a very courteous but close culture. So be ready to be warmly welcomed as a guest to begin with, but it's very difficult if not impossible to become a part of them, except if you learn basketball and soccer. As an MBA, you will find a lot of networking options, if you are smart about using these opportunities to mix with them, then you will may find your way into being accepted.
Likes (Safety): The place is pretty safe and easy to move around. There are certain areas that you must avoid, but you will find such areas few in number. Overall a very safe place. I haven't heard of or come across instances of unsafe behaviour. The east side of the university is not considered safe while the West side is safe and residential.
Dislikes (Value for money): Like every other school, there's significant scope for improvement in the MBA programme of the Ohio State University - Fisher College of Business. The college's lack of investment in student success is evident in its internal politics and bureaucratic hurdles, which hinder progress. The system is set to favour the few and there's a noticeable bias towards the Midwest, neglecting global perspectives. The programme's diversity is limited to local Ohio students or veterans, along with a few Indian and Nigerian students, highlighting a lack of inclusive culture and management of diversity.

Ohio State University- it's pretty great
Tips: It's super easy for international students to get used to the new climate, thanks to a lot of international organisations for students from other countries. Scholarships are plenty, and working on a project as a master's student can help you in getting a GRA, waiving your tuition for 1-2 semesters.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Extremely good with teaching new concepts, patient with students and understanding of our situation/difficulties. It's a paradigm shift in the professor-student relationship when compared to the hierarchical nature of professor-student relationships in India. You can approach your professors if you have any questions/advice regarding the course. They are usually extremely friendly and understanding.
Dislikes (Internships): Extremely hard for international students to get internships for the summer. This could be due to the economic downturn in the summer during my specific course, but I did notice that a lot of students were finding it hard to get into an internship for the summer.

Fun loving university experience.
Tips: If you are enrolling in this college, it's important to grasp the cultural and academic environment. Be ready for a possible change in culture when coming to the USA. Take time to research scholarships, understand eligibility criteria, and apply for financial aid to help with your studies. Getting a scholarship will help you a lot and I guess many graduates can help you regarding the info you need. You will face some problems in start but you will get comfortable after some time. The university is great and fun loving.

Academically good university.
Tips: The faculty is very good. Also, there will be a lot of sports activities that you can participate in. They have many organizations that you can be a part of. This university is academically good. Course structure and resources are available easily for free.
Likes (Safety): The college campus is very secure and has emergency buttons built at many places throughout the college. Also, the police are very active in this college as this is a state university and they cannot afford any type of criminal activity in this university.
Dislikes (Value for money): The original cost of this university is very high compared to other universities. I got a research assistantship so I didn't have to pay my tuition fees. But normally the college fees compared to other college is high because it is under top 50 universities.
