Peaceful but very hard to socialize.
Tips: There will be a lot of transition after entering this country. First, get at least two sets of sweaters that can resist 0-degree temperatures for Melbourne and Adlite. Second, homesickness will affect your mental health, try going out to meet people at different events in Melbourne. You can find a community like "Study Melbourne" and "Couch" for international students. Facebook Market and Gumtree are the best places to find short-term accommodation and furniture for lower prices. Scholarships depend on your merit scoring, your family background and activities related to sports. Most of the universities will offer 15% to 30% of scholarships for international students from India. This university is good for health-related courses and social work courses. Other courses do not have much value or impact on getting a job.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of job opportunities but you need to know someone who can refer you in getting the job in the first place. Direct application can take a lot of time, as people trust the person who is regular to work. Commitment is very important and be very clear in communication, don't hide your feelings at any cost. If you are losing a job that is fine, don't lose your mental pace, as you are on your own.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Australia has a lot of opportunities for non-IT jobs, as 5% chance that a person can get an IT job as a beginner. As this country plays well for an odd job compared to an IT professional, setting in this country for Indians can take up to four years. So, my suggestion is that people looking for jobs related to mechanics, carpenters, and mining can get their PR within 3 years if their ages range from 25 to 32.

Academically oriented university with excellent faculty.
Tips: Students should always check for the subjects of their interest that the university is providing or not. If one is hard working they they don't need to worry about jobs. There are internship opportunities available but you need to stand out from the crowd to get that. After reaching here and before coming, talk to senior students and connect with them as you will get plenty of information about the university. And networking is helpful later on.

La trobe is a very resourceful and excellent university with great educational value.
Tips: The studies are very tough. So please focus a lot on getting the best of your education along with working and paying for yourself. Also, please find your community within the university and talk to counsellors in case you face any hurdles they will help.
Likes (Safety): The campus, residence areas and transportation are all very safe, at all times. Never felt unsafe anywhere. I have travelled even at late night and everywhere is safe. Police are very vigilant at the station and patrolling. There is no safety issue as such in Melbourne.
Dislikes (Part time work): Not many on campus work options. Off campus opportunities vary from person to person depending on the skill they have. Usually retail, food business, labour and casual work are available. Also, contact work is available along with option to work by yourself if you have a business or service to offer.

My university is affordable, welcoming with many opportunities for international students.
Tips: The major shift that I experienced was the variation of study patterns and expectations of the teachers. It took me some time to delve into their way of study. I availed the Vice-chancellor 100% scholarship that is applied to the entire academic field of my course. I got that by submitting my resume and a video testimonial. Very satisfied with my overall experience here.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is very well connected with the public transport. There are several bus stop on the campus that takes you to the nearest train station or even the city and other locations as well. During the semester, free glider service is also run by the university that drops off at certain locations. Public transport is pretty affordable, costing around $10 for a day of travel.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The chances of me getting a PR are low. Because the course that I've select does not fall in the PR course list and the campus location is not regional which makes it even more difficult to get the points required for PR. If given a chance and good job opportunities, I might consider getting a PR.

La trobe university is very good overall as compared to other universities in Melbourne.
Tips: I did not find any cultural shift and it feels like I am in my own country. I got 20% of scholarship and it's very helpful for me based on my previous grades and work experience. I was fully satisfied with the course structure of the university, and Melbourne City is lively. Australia is a good country to study.
Likes (Safety): Studying and enjoying both are essential for a student. There is a recreational activity every Tuesday which involves fun activities along with an educational theme. You can participate in these activities based on your own interest. There are a number of clubs presently running here at the university from technical to social groups.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Everyone is helpful and you will get support from teachers. Practical based learning and creative lab environment for the students. Library facilities are good and you will find numerous methods of study and relaxation. In short everything is good at la trobe university.

Fun, freedom and a tough journey ahead. All countries are same when it comes to education.
Tips: There are many things to learn before coming to Melbourne. First priority should be fluency in English. You should also know what subjects and majors you are interested in. Be careful with your spending on studies and courses. A minimum of one-year prior experience is required before coming abroad. Driving skills are a must. A minimum of three years license is required to obtain an Australian driver's license. You cannot rely on public transportation every day. Scholarships are awarded 20-25%, based on previous academics, work experience, and English exam results. Remember, your main focus should be on your studies and not neglecting the rules to do heavy part-time and pay your college fees.
Likes (Indian Food): We have literally 5-10 Indian restaurants in the surroundings, so there's no problem when it comes to food and affordability. When it comes to grocery availability and affordability, it is good but you need to work on it before coming here. Learn cooking; it saves a lot of money. Time management is key. Be careful with the assignments you submit and timely communication and reaction are key.
Dislikes (Part time work): We have no part-time jobs on campus, and the wait period for a job is too long. However, we can find casual work outside of school. Australian law allows us to work up to 24 hours per week during the school year. The average pay for casual work is 25 Dollars per hour. If you get a casual job, you can earn at least 500-600 Dollars per week. The rest of your expenses can be covered with your savings.

Great university with supportive faculty.
Tips: Before coming to Macquarie University, it's helpful to know the structure of the university and the cultural shifts that you'll encounter. Shops usually close at 6 pm and cafes at 2 pm. However, there is a lot of good vegetarian food available. The faculty are supportive and will help us with our assignments. I'm super satisfied with my course and unit learning as they are more practical-based.

Thriving at Macquarie University: A comprehensive academic and cultural experience.
Tips: Macquarie has a strong academic reputation and offers a variety of scholarships. The campus is vibrant, and the student support services are excellent. Australia is very open, friendly, and laid back, which made it easier to adjust socially. It just takes a little time to adapt to the communication style and daily routine. The faculty at Macquarie University are deeply invested in their students' success. They provide personalized guidance, industry insights, and an engaging learning environment. The campus is great and the pond with a fountain in the center is a panoramic view.
Tips: It took some sort of time to adjust to Australia's education system because it's very different from India. We daily had fixed lectures from 7 am to 2 pm. But here you can set your own timetable according to your feasibility and you have to do self-study before attending the workshops of your unit. As an Indian international student, I got 20000 AUD scholarships. I'm very much satisfied with Macquarie University and the course I'm learning.
Likes (Safety): CCTV cameras are installed throughout the campus. Plus the security team patrols the whole university. Till now I didn't have any bad experiences. The nightlife isn't that great in Sydney. Everybody is at home by 7 pm and everything shut off by 9 pm. You can't see anyone after that time. But it's a part of the routine now, so it doesn't matter.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Transportation to Macquarie University is pretty much sorted. It has its own metro station and is a 10-minute walk from the main campus building. Bus connectivity is the same. Overall affordability is average because the transportation fare in Sydney is extremely high compared to Melbourne. No doubt the services are good but it shouldn't be that costly for students.

It was a good choice to choose Australia.
Tips: The only thing that I faced was that I couldn't eat proper Indian food, and ordering in was quite expensive. I got a 20,000 scholarship from the university. IDP applied for my scholarship. I am pretty satisfied with my course even though it is difficult to get pr. I think If you study hard enough you can get decent jobs here.
Likes (Safety): Sydney is very safe that is what I have experienced. You can travel late. Most of the places have security cameras which adds to the security. There are helplines and regular activities that can help international students who are feeling a little depressed about staying away from home like a free counselling session.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The chances of getting pr are quite difficult in Australia, as some courses and jobs are more favourable, if you get into them, like teaching your chances of getting pr will increase immensely. I am not sure about permanent staying in this country, as I find life in India quite convenient. But the liberal mindset is something that is very appealing in Sydney.

It is a good university with various opportunities.
Tips: It is a very good university and the faculty members are very good. There was no cultural shift. I got the scholarship while I was enrolling at the university. The environment is good and people are very helpful over here. If you face any kind of stress people are here to help you out. Talking about the country it's a bit too early to comment but so far it's good. Also, almost every food contains beef. At a minimum, you have to spend around 10 Dollars for good food. I prefer cooking because it saves a lot of money. I prefer eating at home and if you want to buy groceries, you can get it from Aldi and Coles. I am very satisfied with the university.

Great college campus with lots of activities and friendly faculty.
Tips: Students should know that there is a cultural difference and you meet people from different races and backgrounds. Some might be rude, some might help you but you will also find Indians especially since my university has the most diverse culture in Sydney. I got a scholarship of INR 10 Lakhs. Overall, I am satisfied with my campus and university.
Likes (Safety): The law in Australia is strict, which makes it difficult to commit crimes. The area where I live has excellent security, especially my off-campus apartment building, which requires keycard access to enter. I feel very safe here.
Dislikes (Internships): The university doesn't provide campus placement, so we have to find our own internships. Also, we get rejected for internships because of visa requirements. However, I do have friends who have gotten internships, so it is possible. My field is data science, and it is easier to get an internship in this field.

The university is vibrant with great student life.
Tips: I found it a bit of a cultural shift coming to Macquarie University. There are a lot of Asians here, and not many Indians. But there are a good number of Indians here, and I've made some good friends. I got a scholarship of 10 Lacs rupees as an Indian student and Indians get a 3 year post study visa after they graduate. I am satisfied with my university however I could have done a dual degree so consider that before applying for any courses.
Likes (Part time work): When I came here, the recession was going on and it took me 6 months to get my part-time job. I got other opportunities as well easily and the pay rate is the best in the whole world at 26 Dollars an hour. Just improve your resume according to the job role requirements.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Usually, it is a heaven for people who eat non veg food where we have great options on university campus with more than 10 outlets across the campus and also there is a malls just Next to the university. As a vegetarian it is difficult for me to find restaurants near my location near Macquarie in Sydney however the Indian area called Paramatta has Indian options.

Life at Macquarie University is good. Try to connect with student bodies.
Tips: Students should know that there's going to be big changes coming your way. Embrace each day as it comes. Learn and unlearn. There's a solution for everything. There are student bodies that will help you steer through all problems. Always be yourself and trust that you are capable of making a difference. Make friends, and have fun but know that you are your best friend.
Likes (Safety): I have never felt like I needed an escort to go back home even at 1 am. I have always felt very safe. The people are very nice and friendly and they are always there to help you out. Sydney is a very safe city, especially in today's world.

The college is well managed and friendly.
Tips: Students should be mentally prepared to study and prepare for classes. The academic environment is really nice in the university and lectures are friendly too but you should be prepared to ask questions to the lecturers whenever you have any. Be as open as possible and participate in events, activities and campaigns and build connections.
Likes (Safety): Sydney is one of the safest places to live. The crime rate is very low, and I feel safe when I am travelling at midnight too. The sense of security is really good, I can walk freely around the city. Also, the encounter with police that I have had always been satisfactory.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I do prefer cooking outside because the food outside is not that great and I'm pretty much disappointed by the taste in most of the places. There are not many options available near the place where I live, and the places available charge for food excessively so I prefer cooking.

The university environment is great and supportive.
Tips: Students should know that there is a 10k AUD scholarship per year for South Asian students. Assignments are completely research-based, unlike Indian universities where you have to mug things up. Part-time jobs are a must. You have to be independent. It is not shameful to work.
Likes (Public transportation): Macquarie University is the only University that has a metro station. It drops us off right outside of campus. Apart from the metro, buses are available as well. Transport costs are not that expensive. Keep in mind that we do not get student concessions.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Most Indian food in Australia is catered for native Australians and is not authentic. Most Indian food options are North Indian and as a South Indian, it would be nice to see some variety. I prefer cooking Indian food at home and not eating outside.

Great cultural diversity and experience.
Tips: There was an expected cultural shift when coming here, but it was not difficult. Sydney is so multicultural that diversity is the norm and making connections once I adjusted a bit more and found my groove was very seamless. I did avail of a 10,000$ early acceptance scholarship that I was automatically assessed for when I submitted my application. Overall, I am very satisfied with my university, course and Australia as a whole.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport in Sydney is unarguably the best in all of Australia. Something I love about Macquarie is how it is the only Australian University to have its own Metro station which makes accessibility seamless. Public transport is widespread throughout the outer suburbs as well and is quite affordable.
Dislikes (Internships): There are a lot of highly relevant internships available both at university and outside the university. Something I appreciate about Macquarie University is how much the faculty helps you and guides you in finding a starting point as an undergraduate student in your professional career via the PACE unit. This is a compulsory internship unit offered by the university that goes into depth regarding the scientific field and what companies are actively scouting for.

Good university with knowledgeable faculty and great transportation facilities.
Tips: There was no major shift, the transition was smooth. The university does give good chances for scholarships, especially for gifted students both in sports and education which always helps in funding for students for daily allowance or tuition fee. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the course, college and the country.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Australia has some good options regarding visas and has some good categories for people with at least a degree to get into permanent options without the country and this is mainly a thing that is more inclined towards a government thing rather than the university but the university has some well-recognised degrees throughout the country and internationally.
Dislikes (Internships): The university does provide you to get into a work experience programme which is always good to enter and get a taste of the field you're planning to get into and is always a crucial thing when applying for graduate programs and further options.

University is beautiful. Fun learning experiences.
Tips: Make sure you know what you are doing. The choices you made will reflect on the rest of your journey in Australia. Be wise as you'll find a cultural shift that you need to adapt. Each university has a certain set of scholarships for Indian students make sure you get all the details before you enroll. The university is good but the course that I took Engineering Management is not registered/ recognised by Engineers Australia which evaluates your academics. Make sure whatever your choice of course is you choose is recognised under respective boards. Also have a look at skilled occupations list.
Likes (Safety): Sydney suburbs and other suburbs around the unis are quite safe and calm. Law enforcement is good. It's just that you won't find frequent buses to travel after 9pm. Except the CBD, and few suburbs. Rest all are dead street after 9pm. It is 98% safe always to travel alone at nights too.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It all depends on what courses you are doing and the relevant experience that you have with respect to the Immigration skilled occupation list. Do prior research on the courses you want to pursue. Aligning your interests, goals and skilled occupation list to meet the points to get PR.

Tips: Back in my home country, I used to rely on my parents if I needed anything. But it is completely different now, I am independent now, I am making all the things alone, and I am loving this kind of life. I have availed a scholarship and Shiksha Study abroad helped me through that. I am very satisfied with the University, course and the country and I am happy. Likes (Indian Food): I actually prefer to eat home food. But as I didn't have much time to cook some days I prefer to eat from a few of the restaurants where we find all types of food from anywhere in the world. I tried Indian, Chinese, Korean, Mexican and a few other country foods which felt authentic.
Dislikes (Safety): I didn't have any personal experience on this but I heard from my friends that the refugee people are dangerous here. We need to be careful with them better to avoid a talk with them and be pleasant with everyone. Apart from that, I feel very safe here.

Tips: Students should know that it is highly expensive to stay abroad in this economic environment. The budgets for rent, food and transport are far higher than what is being shown. Scholarships pay for less than 10 percent of the entire student tuition fee and also the tuition fees are rising yearly.
Likes (Safety): Upgraded modern safety pieces of equipment and safety poles (security and safety points of contact) are present across the campus. Day and night security is available on campus with dedicated security escort teams available if needed. The policies for security are amongst the safest and best in Australia.
Dislikes (Internships): There is almost no internship option for International Students studying environmental science and its associated fields. Small work opportunities are often almost exclusively available for domestic kids. There are few opportunities as well but they come rarely.

Tips: Moving here helped me a great deal as it boosted my CV and got a hike of 30 per cent more than the normal average. And I think I am satisfied with my course and the university. Australia is great, especially for Indians because of the diversity ratio and this made it easy for me to fit in.
Likes (Post study jobs): Jobs are good as the scope is good in the field since finance is the burn oil of the economy and I think finance will play an important part. I think there are many opportunities for Indian immigrants in the field of finance as a finance analyst and packages are around 12 lakh per month.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The campus is connected well with public transport and the electric revolution is playing a great deal in connecting two places. Master of Information Systems Management - Batch of 2025

Plenty of study options to choose
Tips: Make sure you are availing the 2 year course which will provide you a post-study work visa.
The quality of teaching depends on the tutor, some of the tutors are great some are below par.
The University is well equipped with all the requirements, labs, study areas, library, classrooms, open area, etc
A suggestion, if you are good with your academics, Macquarie offer Master in Research where your 1st year is a normal master's program and 2nd year is for your research work. It has a couple of advantages -
1. Highly valued degree, once you have this degree you will easily find a high paying job.
2. Full working rights when you are doing your research work. I have seen students finishing their research in 1st 4-5 months, remaining months they worked full time and earned lots of dollars.
3. Extra Points for PR
4. If your academic score is well, 2nd year will be fully funded by Macqurie (100% scholarships)
You need to be good with your writing skills as the research paper are 50 pages fully written in your own words.
I would highly suggest everyone look at these options.
Disadvantage -
1. Difficult compared to normal master's degree.
2. If your research work is not up to the mark, you might spend some extra time completing your degree.
3. You have to do it all alone. Unlike normal masters where you can take help from your friends. Remember it is research on a new topic (similar to Phd)
Likes (Student Life): The University is big, you will make lots of friends if you are good with making new connections.
You can find any odd jobs so that you can start earning some dollars. Sydney is a beautiful place where you can roam around. The University does well in welcoming first-year students.
Dislikes (Internships): It's early for me to comment as I am studying for my 1 semester exam. I have seen lots of companies coming here with their internship program but you have to make your own way there. One thing to notice is all the internships are unpaid. There are lots of classes for how to write your essay, build CV, etc
