Ulyanovsk State University has highly qualified and friendly faculty.
Tips: Russia has a very cold and hilly climate, which I love. It also has a very different culture than my home country. If you do well in your studies and get good marks, you can get a scholarship. The university is easy to access because it provides a student ID that allows access to the campus. The teaching methodology is convenient because English is used for instruction, and the professors are very approachable. The anatomy department has a lot of interesting biological specimens. There are no Indian restaurants here, only Russian restaurants. You can cook your own food, but you will need to bring your own Indian spices. Russian food is very different from Indian food, so I suggest you cook your own meals. The university campus is very eco-friendly, and I am very grateful to have been able to study MBBS here.

Ulyanovsk State University has a wide campus with many activities happening simultaneously.
Tips: There are usually some difficulties in the first few months after coming from India. However, the people here are very nice and helpful, and they care about us because they know that we are from another country. The faculty are highly talented and expert in their field so don't hesitate to reach out to them in case of any queries. In Ulyanovsk, you can find any bus, tram, or shuttle you need. The transportation is very reliable and affordable, and I never experienced any delays. There are no Indian restaurants in Ulyanovsk. For vegetarians like me, it is very difficult to survive because there are only two things we can eat outside: shwarma and pizza, and there is only one variety of pizzas available. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the course and the university.

Ulyanovsk State University is good for balancing between studies and extracurriculars.
Tips: Students should know that studying at this university is not easy, but it is not that difficult either. However, the winters are very cold, with temperatures reaching -30 degrees Celsius. So, be prepared for that and bring a good quality jacket. Public transportation is very slow and unreliable. Sometimes I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a bus or train. I really need a car, but the rules are very strict, and taxis are too expensive. For a 3-kilometer ride, the fare is more than 250 rubles, and in the morning it can be more than 300 rubles.
Likes (Part time work): It's a good opportunity for students to get a 2-3 month job and earn 70k+. You do need to learn the local language for everyday jobs, but it's worth it. Last year I earned 75k from a 2-month job.

The university is average and the faculty does not seem interested in teaching.
Tips: Students should know that they need to do more self-study, spend more time preparing for class, and learn the local language. Also, there are no scholarship options for foreign students, only for locals. The hospital's knowledge is good, and the staff is good at coping with our language barrier. The patients are good as well. However, there aren't many interesting cases in our city. I like the hospital's ambience, but they don't teach much about clinical knowledge.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are unbothered and do not care about us. They are also careless at times. Even if we read the material, they will not listen to us. They use their phones during class and do not explain anything properly. They do not impart any knowledge and show favouritism to certain students.

World-class education in a supportive community.
Tips: Before joining Ulyanovsk State Medical University, Russia, students should know that programs are often in English, but Russian language skills are useful. The weather is cold, so prepare for extreme temperatures. The culture is unique, so be open-minded and respectful. After arriving, I transitioned smoothly with the university's help. I experienced a cultural shift, but the diverse student body and cultural events helped me adapt. I received a merit-based scholarship that covered 50% of my tuition fees. To get the scholarship, I submitted my academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. The allowance was sufficient to cover my educational expenses. I'm extremely satisfied with my medical course at USMU.
Likes (Student Life): The college offers a vibrant and inclusive environment that fosters growth, exploration, and connection. My day in college is always exciting and filled with various activities. A typical day for me begins with attending lectures and tutorials, where I engage with professors and peers to discuss course materials and share ideas. After classes, I usually grab lunch with friends at the cafeteria or nearby eateries, which offers a great opportunity to socialize and take a break. In the afternoons, I often participate in extracurricular activities, such as joining club meetings, attending workshops or seminars, or practicing with my sports team. These activities help me develop new skills, pursue my passion, and build meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals. One of the things I enjoy most about my college life is the sense of community and belonging. My college organizes various events throughout the year, such as cultural festivals, concerts, and guest lectures, which bring students together and create lasting memories. Some popular events on our campus include the annual cultural fest, the teach expo, and the sports day. I try to participate in these events as often as I can, as they offer a great way to meet new people, learn about different cultures and interests, and showcase my own talents. Our campus also has a wide range of student clubs and communities, catering to diverse interests such as music, drama, dance, sports, and community service. Some popular student clubs on our campus include the debate team, the photography club, the environment society, and the entrepreneurship cell. These clubs provide a platform for students to pursue their passion, develop new skills, and contribute to the college community.
Dislikes (Internships): The faculty members in my department are extremely accessible and approachable. They foster open communication, encouraging students to ask questions and seek guidance whenever needed. This approachability helps build strong mentor-mentee relationships, which are invaluable for academic and professional growth. One unique aspect of the teaching methodology in my department is the emphasis on experiential learning. Professors incorporated real-world examples, case studies, and hands-on projects to illustrate key concepts. This approach helps students connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications, making learning more engaging and effective. The teaching faculty in my department is diverse in terms of nationality, with professors from various countries and cultural backgrounds. This diversity brings unique perspectives and insights to the classroom, enriching the learning experience. Faculty members are also encouraged to share th

Tips: The education and fee structure is reasonable. The transportation system is a little slow, but it's cheap. There is no pollution, and everything works in a systematic way. The people are strict about their rules and regulations, which is a good thing. I am very satisfied with my university.
Likes (Student Life): My day at university starts at 8:00 AM and ends in the afternoon. There are many different types of clubs, including sports, fashion shows, and dance clubs. We have our own swimming pool and can swim. We can also organize football matches with other universities and participate in other sports activities, including the National Olympiad.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I like vegetarian food, but it is difficult to find vegetables here. You can get them, but they are expensive. Frozen vegetables are an option, but then there is the cost of electricity to keep them frozen. Day-to-day items like oil and salt are reasonably priced.

Kemerovo State Medical University is good and affordable for pursuing MBBS.
Tips: In this country, it is almost winter all year round, and the temperature can sometimes drop to -50 degrees Celsius. There is a language barrier that makes it difficult to communicate. You do not need any scholarships to attend this university. You only need to have passed the NEET exam and a test administered by the university. To come here, you will need a passport and warm winter clothes. The public transportation system is good, convenient, and affordable. The price for a bus ticket is 34 rubles, which is less than the price of a cab. However, sometimes it is difficult to access a bus, so we have to take a cab. Overall, I am satisfied with the university and the course I am taking.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are very few Indian food options here. There are a lot of non-vegetarian options, but very few vegetarian options. So, if you are a vegetarian, you will need to bring some food items from your home country and cook them yourself.

Value for money, comfortable study and qualified teachers.
Tips: Students should know that Kemerovo State Medical University is a low-budget institution that provides a comfortable study environment and qualified teachers. The university also admits more students than they have seats for, so there are more than thirty students in a group, and the tutor does not have time to listen to all the students. However, the university is located in an industrial city with many factories and restaurants, so students can find part-time work to supplement their income.
Likes (Part time work): Kemerovo is an industrial city with many factories and restaurants. I was able to find part-time work in the city and I even worked with Russians, which helped me develop my language skills.
Dislikes (Student Life): The student life at Kemerovo State Medical University is not very good. There are few tourist attractions in the city, and the hostel rooms are not renovated. The hostel rent is high compared to the rent paid by students who live in rooms. The university admits more students than they have seats for, so there are more than thirty students in a group, and the tutor does not have time to listen to all the students.

The university is amazing and there are lot of extracurriculars for students.
Tips: The biggest cultural shift was in language. Most Russians don't speak or understand English, and even some of the teachers don't speak English. If you are one of the top 10 students, you can get a discount on your tuition fees. My university is nice, the teachers are helpful, and most of the Russians are friendly.
Likes (Part time work): On-campus students can work as translators if they have a good knowledge of the Russian language. Off-campus students have various work options, such as working in a factory or shop. The pay is quite good, for example, 2000-2500 per day, and it can vary depending on the location of the job.
Dislikes (Indian Food): As a vegetarian, I found very few vegetarian options available at this university. In fact, most of the vegetarian options were sweet, so I ended up cooking for myself most of the time. Some of the vegetarian options available were cheese bread, shorma, French fries, and milkshakes. Cheese bread costs between 100 and 300 rubles, depending on the place you eat. Shorma cost between 250 and 350 rubles, and French fries cost 250 rubles.

The university is really affordable and provides great education.
Tips: This is an average college that is good if you want a budget-friendly college. However, you will need to learn Russian because most people don't speak English here except for a few teachers who teach the main subjects. Also, there are no scholarships available right now, and no one has received any. Additionally, there is a major cultural shift after moving here.
Likes (Student Life): The classses are well-organized and cover a wide range of topics. The instructors are knowledgeable and engaging, and the coursework is challenging but not overwhelming. The university also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including concerts, which help to create a well-rounded educational experience.
Dislikes (Part time work): The pay is not great, but it is possible to manage both work and academics. If you have a loan, working part-time is a good way to help pay for your education. There are off-campus opportunities available, such as working in ice cream factories for girls and ozone plants for boys.

College is new, not ready for 150-200 students every year.
Tips: The university is accredited, and students should try to connect with the alumni. Beware of student agents who may try to steer you toward a particular university. Use the university's official website to get more information. Don't be swayed by low tuition fees. Also, consider the city where the university is located, as it may not provide the international exposure you seek.
Likes (Safety): There are security cameras everywhere. Smoke detectors are in every room, and the fire alarm system is very efficient. The police are helpful and friendly towards Indian students. I never worried about walking alone at midnight in the city areas. There are very few cases of theft because the punishments are severe.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): After getting your degree, the highest salary you can earn in 2-3 years is 1 lakh per month. This is a low salary for doctors compared to other countries. If you want to earn more, you need to look for jobs in Moscow or Saint Petersburg. Another option is to pursue a career in dentistry, which offers higher earning potential. To broaden your employment opportunities, it is advisable to learn Russian as soon as possible.

The university is simple and basic.
Tips: There are no cultural shifts to speak of, as everything is the same for Indian students. There are no scholarships available now, but that may change in the future. The university is medium-sized, and according to the budget, it's not very good but medium. Students may find it quite boring in the early days.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): If we wanted to stay in Russia after graduation, we would have to take an exam in Russian. Like in India, it is difficult to pass the exam because of the Russian language. So if you want to stay in Russia, you need to focus on your studies.
Dislikes (Student Life): It is difficult to adjust to a new university. Also, students may find it difficult to acquire practical knowledge due to a lack of bodies for review. Students should study on their own.
