The University of Melbourne provides a lot of exposure and opportunities on-campus.
Tips: I really enjoy the culture at the University of Melbourne, even though it's very different from home. I didn't get any scholarships, but the exposure to new things and the opportunities that have opened up for me are priceless. The University of Melbourne is located in the central business district, which is a safe area that is always well-lit and has people around. The university also provides safety measures, such as security guards who will walk you from class to class or to your on-campus accommodation. These measures help to ensure that you feel safe and secure while you are on campus. The classes are very large, with up to 500 students, so it's hard to get individual attention from the professors. Also, the professors are from many different countries, and some of them are not very fluent in English, which makes it hard to understand them. In addition, I find that my particular course is too math-oriented and doesn't require enough critical thinking, which is not a good fit for my personal aptitude. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

The university provides a lot of on campus events and seminars to connect and maintain connections.
Tips: The campus life is amazing and the people are so loving, very warm and welcoming to students. The exams are a bit hard, but you can push through. There are so many parties, functions, and other activities. Plus, you get free food almost every day. There are few on-campus jobs. However, a good number of off-campus jobs are available if you look for them the right way. Part-time work is manageable if you are a good student. The average pay is minimum wage, which is 24 dollars per hour if you are 21 or older, and 19, 20, and 21 dollars if you are 18, 19, and 20, respectively. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Migration is not a fairytale.
Tips: There are multiple things people need to understand before going to a different country. It is not a fairytale. Students work like labourers here, especially at the University of Melbourne. The curriculum is hard, compared to other universities. If you want a job you will need references. I'm a government-sponsored student, I was awarded a 100% scholarship from the Maharashtra government. You can find more details on the sjsa.com website. To avail of this scholarship you should have a family income lower than 6 Lacs per annum, almost above 90% in graduation degree and should be SC caste. Overall University of Melbourne puts a lot of pressure on students, Infrastructure and teachers are good, but student support for career guidance could be improved. On a scale of 1-5, I will give 2.5 for university satisfaction. I will highly advise not to take any management course in any of the unis in Australia as it has no PR or job security. 1 for course satisfaction. Australia as a country is extremely good, clean, friendly people,
Likes (Safety): The University of Melbourne is extremely safe, and there is an extremely low crime rate in the city. This is not particular to this university; every reputed university in Australia is safe. There are security people roaming around the city, and there is no gun culture in the entire country.
Dislikes (Value for money): The courses are extremely expensive and provide very low ROI. Job opportunities are very limited, and it is extremely difficult to find a job or internship. Even people with 10 years of experience in management can't find jobs.

Tips: The university offers grants and scholarships. Students should check them out. Stores here close by 5 pm and most cafes by 3 pm, so if you are not an early riser, you need to change that. I am quite satisfied as the university teaches me and also makes me research to gain better insights.
Likes (Student Life): The university does provide a lot of events and activities on campus to keep the students engaged. There are networking sessions, games, and free food. There are so many clubs to join and engage in their activities. I participate once a week in an activity. The clubs are from cultural, academic as well as hobby backgrounds.
Dislikes (Part time work): The University has not provided us with much options for part-time. Students mostly seek part-time jobs outside. It is quite manageable if you keep your classes for 3 days and work 3 days. You can balance work and studies. The average payout for part-time work is Aud 450 per week.

A very homely and wholesome experience.
Tips: It's one of the most livable cities in the world, and it's very student-oriented, which makes it easy to make friends. The university itself has a QS ranking of 13, which makes it the best university in Melbourne, and definitely one of the best in the world. I recommend that you try to make friends in each class you have. If you're an introvert, there are lots of activities that don't require you to mingle with people so much. I'm very satisfied with my experience at the University of Melbourne.
Likes (Internships): Internships here are very popular. While it may be hard to find a paid internship, there are a lot of companies that offer unpaid internships. If you do a good job, you may be able to parlay that experience into a paid position after graduation. I suggest that you download LinkedIn and start networking with people in your field.
Dislikes (Part time work): For Bachelor students, it's a bit hard to get a paid job because Australia mostly considers Australian work experience. However, you can move your way up by joining university clubs and internships, even if they're unpaid. Basically, you just need to engage yourself in activities.

Tips: You are on your own to find a job. The course is difficult and you have to be constantly working during the semester. You should have good financial background and good academic skills. In order to secure a job, make sure you work hard throughout the course, and maintain a good WAM. If you want to go into the industry, try to get some professional experience beforehand. A lot of people are considering a Ph.D. after my course.
Likes (Safety): The country is safe as everyone knows. Generally no thefts or risks to women. Of course, it is not crime-free. The chances of your cycle getting stolen are high. Also, there are people on the street under the influence who can be a nuisance sometimes as they sometimes shoot but often they don't do any harm.
Dislikes (Internships): No internships are provided by the university. You have to find one yourself. However, it is generally hard to find an internship. It is not that tough to find part-time jobs but still requires some work. Good connections can be really helpful for finding a job.

Tips: Students should know that the most important part is understanding that academics are much more challenging than one can imagine. And to add to this, you have other challenges like financial and social challenges to deal with. As a student, you need to manage and hold everything together. The country is safe to explore and the transportation facilities are widely available. Try to opt for part-time opportunities to maintain your budget.
Likes (Safety): The city is very secure and it is one of the best cities to live in the world. It is safe because people follow laws, rules and regulations and you would not see anyone on the road with a knife so until you are a good citizen you are safe here.
Dislikes (Value for money): Even after receiving a scholarship, the fee is too much. If you are not from a very well-to-do family and have taken a loan to be a part of a prestigious university, even if you get a good job, you have a huge amount to pay back. So it is not about what is provided, it's more about how much it costs.

My college is friendly, professors are just amazing and transportation is smooth,
Tips: I did experience a culture shift when I moved to Australia, but I was able to mitigate it by living off-campus with one of my professors. I was able to celebrate Indian festivals with them, which helped me feel more at home. I was not able to take advantage of any financial aid, so my parents took out a loan to pay for my education. I am satisfied with my experience because I was able to get a part-time job to help pay for my living expenses.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty at Melbourne are astonishing, they are just excellent. There are also many Indian teachers teaching here who helped me a lot in finding part-time jobs. The teachers here are well educated, and their practical approach is evident in their teaching methods.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): We are facing difficulty since elections for permanent settlement as the newly elected government makes the process of immigration more difficult. No, I would like to come back to India after my studies as I wish to open my own clinic earlier and then an entire hospital for neuroscience.

Tips: I was satisfied with the university but it is really difficult to get opportunities for international students. I would suggest students attend orientations and other events that the university conducts so they would be able to interact with different people and make good friends.
Likes (Safety): There is good security at the campus. There were multiple security phone options where you could call security. There is also food relief available on campus so that students can get food from the university every week.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are not many jobs for international students. The university does not aid students in finding full-time jobs. It depends on the student to find full-time opportunities to find a job and it is really difficult as the majority of the big companies do not hire international students.

Likes (Public transportation): I travel in the metro and it is very convenient and comfortable. There is no pushing and the metro is not overcrowded. Also sometimes I go in my car so that is more convenient. But using the public transport is good and I can commute easily.

Tips: The transition was smooth, as everyone here was very friendly and helpful. I experienced a very little cultural shift but in a very positive way. I got a 25% scholarship, which was a huge help. The university is huge and has lots of facilities, and the course is very interesting. There is a direct tram and bus service from the university to various parts of Melbourne. The teaching is very interesting, and the instructors discuss real-life scenarios instead of just teaching from a book. The teaching faculty is also diverse in terms of nationality. The city of Melbourne is very welcoming, and I would highly recommend this university to any international student. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience at Deakin University.
Dislikes (Part time work): The university does not provide many opportunities for students to work part-time. However, there are many part-time job opportunities available in Melbourne. Part-time work is manageable because students cannot work more than 48 hours per fortnight due to visa restrictions. The average hourly pay rate is between 25 and 31 aud.

The university is good and there are a lot of part-time opportunities.
Tips: There is a huge cultural difference, so get a part-time job as soon as possible and learn how to speak to locals and their culture. Students coming in might feel disconnected, but don't give up. Everyone feels the same. Just try to adjust and be open to all new things. Join international student communities to make friends. I had a 25% scholarship which helped me a lot. I got it based on my previous grades. I did the first two years of my 2+2 course in India and got the scholarship based on those two years. The course is fine, and the university doesn't matter. The country is awesome. There are some problems, but no place is perfect. This is one of the best in my opinion. The minimum pay itself is very high, and jobs are available.
Likes (Indian Food): There are all types of food from around the world available, but the prices are quite high, especially for students. Eating out every day is not feasible, so I cook for myself, which is more cost-effective. There are tiffin services that provide two meals for 10-15 dollars, so that is another option.
Dislikes (Value for money): In Australia, nobody cares about your college but only your skills and network determine whether you get a job. Even if you do the same course at a college with much lower fees, it won't make any difference. When you apply for a job, there are two steps to getting your resume selected: one is knowing someone in the company, and the next is having the required skills. If you have no network or connections, you'll have to put in the same amount of effort whether you're from Melbourne University or any other college.

Tips: Coming to Australia and doing everything on your own will teach you essential life skills that will mould you into a person of character. Doing part-time jobs while managing assignment deadlines will test your time- mangled skills. Cooking healthy foods and avoiding the temptation to get takeout requires great self-control. On top of everything, you won't have your parents to tell you what to do, so self-discipline is the only thing that will take you places. All in all, it was a life-changing experience, and you should enjoy every minute of it.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I would definitely love to settle in Australia, and one key point to remember is that as long as you have a job related to your field, you will get PR 99% of the time. Some degrees provide you with the ability to find work quickly, while others do not. However, as long as you have a good understanding of your subjects and a good skill set, you will find jobs after some time, which will help lead to PR.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I would suggest that the best way to save money is to cook your own food. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in Melbourne, and you can find a lot of vegetarian options on campus. There is also a nice Italian restaurant around the corner, and Subway and Domino's give student discounts to Deakin students.

I feel truly loved, accepted and supported at Deakin.
Tips: Deakin University is a great place to grow both your soft skills and technical skills. While there has not been any major cultural shift, I have definitely become more open to people from different cultural backgrounds and work well with them as a team. International students typically receive a scholarship of about 10-15%, and the university also offers a vice chancellor's scholarship, which provides a full scholarship to students who have demonstrated extraordinary extracurricular participation in their previous schools.
Likes (Internships): The university has its own internship programs, which provide students with opportunities to work in a corporate setting while they are still in school. This is a great type of internship opportunity for students. Deakin also has collaborations with other companies, so when those companies have openings, Deakin students get an edge over other applicants.
Dislikes (Part time work): The on-campus part-time jobs are great, but they are not always easy to get into because of their limited availability. The average pay is 21 to 22 dollars per hour, but some jobs at fuel stations pay 35 to 40 Dollars per hour. Poor course, great university, great country, and networking is preferred over skills.
Tips: My Indian University hired a VISA consultant who did most of the application work and I prepared for my IELTS to transition here, taking the entire process about 5 months. The difference was too much availability of non-vegetarian food such as beef, pork, chicken, fish etc. which you might also have to deal with at part-time jobs and expensive vegetarian food if eating out. Further, the weather here is unpredictable as rain can downpour anytime. Cleaning standards are high here and dust does not fly off in the wind hence white clothes or shoes will not get dirty for days. Teachers and professors or even the elderly are called by their first names without any sir or mam. The culture is also difficult for Indian students as we are used to getting spoon-fed by our teachers while maintaining a standard of attendance, but here you can attend classes at your own pace and you are expected to have gone through the provided online material before attending any class. My scholarship is 25% which was the maximum allowed and is provided by almost all the universities in Australia easily and my course included getting a high credit grade to avail scholarship. Overall, I'm satisfied with my course due to the negligence of core unit selection. However, I'm satisfied with the country and the university that provides several services such as counselling, networking, sports events and other events.
Likes (Safety): The region that I live in Melbourne, Victoria is pretty safe and I can walk with headphones, using my smartphone in the middle of the night, without a care of being robbed, mugged or assaulted but there are always exceptions such as drunkards, hood people and more. To date, I have had no safety issues. To ensure safety, most of the area is covered with surveillance systems, cameras, traffic systems, reliable health care services expensive, or not have good health cover and trustworthy and unbiased people, mostly.
Dislikes (Part time work): The availability of on-campus part-time jobs is scarce and off-campus jobs are average and mostly require prior experience, and references which can be anyone as long as they have an "Australian phone number" and several hours of standing and repetitive work. There is racism when getting a job and recruiters mostly prefer people from their own ethnicity, except Indians who try to exploit you in terms of pay rate as well as other ways. The part-time work is manageable as there is a strict maximum limit of working 48 hours a fortnight, hence, one can easily manage their academics, if capable. The average payout in Australia in Victoria for part-time is 24.1 AUD per hour and for casuals which is another job category, that includes you working, when there is a requirement, you have the control to reject plays 30.25 AUD per hour, which could be unreliable at times.

Tips: Before joining Deakin University, students should make sure to apply for scholarships and choose a course wisely. There are a lot of specializations, so make sure you choose one that interests you. Also, be prepared to work hard with your part-time work and university studies.
Likes (Quality of faculty): All the professors at Deakin University are extremely supportive and helpful. They are well-versed in their subjects, easy to approach, good at communication, and considerate. They are very comfortable to talk to and are always available to guide us as and when we need.
Dislikes (Internships): I haven't reached that stage of my course yet, so I am unaware of the internship situation here. Based on what I know, many options are abundant for students, but since I haven't personally ventured into that segment yet, I am not quite sure about the situation.

Tips: Students should be open to new opportunities. Networking is key to gaining success in your field. Scholarships depend on how well you've fared in your undergrad course. I received a 75% scholarship based on the same. I'm quite satisfied with the university, the course as well as the country.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): My chances are quite wide since many organisations in sports are on the lookout for fresh graduates and a pool of talent. Given a chance, I would surely permanently migrate here since Australia has a great sports industry and network of professionals.
Dislikes (Part time work): There were few part-time roles available on campus. The average payout used to be 20 Dollars per hour. Managing part-time work along with academics was easily manageable since the assignments were spread out and had plenty of resources available at libraries and online.

Tips: The whole process of getting into Deakin is really simplified and easy. You will get mentors on campus that will guide you in the first year and and help you transition to university life easily. There is a lot of help and resources available whenever you need them.
Likes (Student Life): It is really fun studying at Deakin. It has a really good community and the campus is really amazing. The college has a great infrastructure, technologically advanced facilities and a good support from the university when you need it. It has a lot of events that happen on a regular basis.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Australia has a skilled occupation list, with the jobs that are currently required in Australia, and they update the same every year. So only the jobs that are listed in the skilled occupation list have a better chance at settlement or immigration to Australia.

Deakin: A good start but requires self-reliance.
Tips: Before joining Deakin, students should know that while the university provides a good foundation, you must take charge of your learning. It's not like in India where the university handles everything here, you need to try to understand things and work towards getting a job. Since I'd already been to France for a semester exchange, I didn't experience much of a cultural shift. I got a 25% international scholarship, which is merit-based and fairly easy to get. Overall, the university is good, and the course structure is well-organized, but I feel the teaching could be improved to make it more effective.
Likes (Indian Food): I rated 5 on food options because there are plenty of Indian restaurants in every suburb, so finding food from my country isn't a problem. On average, you can enjoy a meal for around $20. I mostly prefer cooking at home five days a week and eating out on the other two. Food availability here is convenient and affordable.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): I rated 4 on the quality of faculty because, while Deakin has good teachers, the teaching methods could be improved. Workshops are helpful but often lack impact as PhD scholars lead them without strong teaching skills. Some lecturers could also refine their approach to make learning more engaging. The faculty is accessible and approachable, and there's great diversity in nationalities, but the teaching methods could better utilize this diversity to enhance the student experience.

Likes (Safety): I rated safety a 5 because Melbourne maintains a high standard of public safety, both on and off campus. In addition to campus security, the university provides safety escorts, well-lit pathways, and emergency call stations. In the city, reliable public transport and police presence contribute to a secure environment. One positive experience has been the consistent feeling of safety when commuting late at night on public transit. The city's commitment to student well-being is evident, making it a comfortable and safe place to live and study.
Dislikes (Internships): For internships, I'd rate it a 3 because while there is some support, finding relevant positions still requires improvements in guidance and industry connections. The university offers career services and workshops, but reference connections are often needed to increase chances. Skills also play a major role, as companies tend to look for candidates with specific technical capabilities. While students can seek internships independently, more structured guidance, skill-development sessions, and university-led partnerships with industry would make it easier to secure meaningful, hands-on roles directly aligned with our field of study.

Really nice and friendly atmosphere
Tips: It’s a pretty nice college, I loved my time spent there. I would definitely suggest this college to my fellow students who are planning to shift here or are currently looking for college options in Australia. Do give it a try and just research the whole process.
Likes (Student Life): So friendly atmosphere. You can make a lot of friends from different cultural backgrounds, and the teachers and faculty here are very understanding and doubt solving. So you will not face any problem at the beginning of your course. Also there are many part time jobs available near the campus area.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): It’s nice atmosphere here in my university. Crowd is so friendly, do consider this at the topmost priority list in my opinion. I have heard many experiences of my friends that didn’t went as planned, but deakin is different, I loved my time here.

Likes (Quality of faculty): Quality of faculty was excellent, there was no issue. Moreover, faculties have ample knowledge about their subjects and they clear doubts in just minutes without any hesitation. So it's a helpful thing for students to pursue their subject.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The food options are low here and students suffer. Moreover, students enjoy having their food in home as compared to eating here. The main point is that the food is costly as well and is more focused on non veg food items like chicken which creates a problem.
