Double Degree Melbourne University 

The Melbourne School of Design offers around 11 dual degree options in Design and Architecture at the postgraduate level. The entry requirements are though common at the University of Melbourne, yet they may vary depending upon the choice of specialisation, and consequently the corresponding major at the undergraduate level. The following are the entry requirements for these Design + Architecture double degree courses at the University of Melbourne: 







Entry Requirements: 

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree, with a weighted average mark of at least 65%. 
  • Completion of at least one major in the choice of course opted. 
  • Students who completed an Architecture major are eligible to study these courses but will have to justify the prerequisite knowledge at the Bachelor’s level.

Sydney University Double Degree 

The University of Sydney offers a unique Masters in Economics program for two years duration in partnership with Fudan University. Students complete one year of study at the University of Sydney and the other year at Fudan University. Read on for course-related details: 

Entry Requirements: 

For University of Sydney: Bachelor’s degree with majors in Economics, Econometrics of Financial Economics from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification 

For Fudan University: Degree students, should be non-Chinese nationals, and must be able to prove completion of a four-year bachelor's or higher degree program from an accredited college or university. Majoring in Economics or Finance is preferred.

Monash University Double Degree 

There are over 70+ double degree courses at Monash University which are offered to international students. These are in combination with the bachelors and master's of the same study area. The duration of these courses is not less than five years, that is, three years of bachelor's and two years of master's course. Monash University has set a few common requirements for admissions. The All India Senior School Certificate may vary per course option, ideally, the percentage varies between 77% to 85%.

Dual Masters in Australia Internships or Work-Integrated Learning

Students pursuing a double degree from Australia can opt for internships or commonly referred to as work-integrated learning (WIL) specifically for those pursuing a dual degree from Australia. These are just like any other part-time jobs in Australia but the work duration depends upon a co-minor which lasts for a year or a minor-related job which cannot be for six months and above. These placements are for gaining hands-on learning in the industry with relevant academic submissions. This also includes workplace reflection and feedback from the host organisation.

  • Intake Semester 1: Registrations begin in August, and placements begin in November or February
  • Intake Semester 2: Registrations open in April for internships to start in June or August

Q. Are there any Nursing double degrees offered in Australia?

A. At the postgraduate level, no, there are no nursing double degrees in Australia. There are mostly Bachelors (H) + Masters in Nursing available for students as a dual degree option for study.

Q. Can students apply for a dual masters in Australia in the final year of their previous study?

A. Yes, students can apply for a dual masters in Australia when they are in the last year of their previous study. It is only upon completing the previous degree can students study a dual masters degree in Australia.  

Q. Is it mandatory to submit English language proficiency scores for dual masters in Australia?

A. English language proficiency scores are subject to fulfilment of the admission requirements that may vary university to university in Australia. Majority of the Australian universities accept a set minimum score on either TOEFL / IELTS / PTE and CAE in order to qualify for a dual masters degree in Australia.

A. In some cases yes, the portfolio submission is mandatory for double masters admission in Australia. For courses relating to Architecture & Design and Arts related courses may require a portfolio submission as part of the admission requirement.  

Q. What if a student decides to discontinue with the double Masters and pursue a single Masters instead?

A. If a student makes up his/her mind to drop one component of their double Masters, they will have to first inform the Admissions Office of their respective University. Upon permission, they will be enrolled in a single masters of the other subject chosen. The credits will be carried across wherever applicable, and they would be required to fulfil all necessary requirements of the single degree prior to graduating.
