Cost of Studying MEng in Germany
In this section, we are going to be covering the cost of studying Masters in Engineering (MEng) in Germany. Germany is home to top public universities that are largely state-funded and does not require students to pay tuition fee but only an administration fee as part of the admission process. However, when we talk about private universities in Germany, students wanting to study Masters in Engineering in Germany (MEng in Germany) across private universities would be required to pay up to €17,000 euros as tuition on average for one academic year.
Cost of Living in Germany: Candidates looking to live in Germany are required to open a mandatory Blocked Account. The Blocked Account has the required living expense for a student. This amount is decided by the government in Germany. As of January 1, 2021, keeping the rate of inflation in mind, the mandatory amount required in the Block Account for studying in Germany is €10,332 for an entire year or €861 for a month.
German Study Visa
Candidates going to study in Germany would require a German Student Visa for their entire duration of stay. The student visa would also allow students access to part-time work for 20 hours a week for their entire duration of the study or 120 full or 240 half days per year Candidates should note that on completion of their study, they would be allowed an eighteen-month (18 months) post-study period to find employment in their field of study. Students will have to pay around €110 as a visa application fee. Generally, the processing time for a Residence Permit visa is 3 months (8 to 12 weeks).

- An accredited bachelor’s degree program in an engineering or science discipline or its equivalent with a good CGPA.
- GMAT or GRE scores are required by most universities. GRE or GMAT scores may be waived off for candidates with exceptional work experience.
- Two or three letters of recommendation demonstrating the candidate’s academic, work and leadership skills.
- A statement of purpose or personal statement.
- TOEFL or IELTS scores for international students whose native language is not English.
- Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended.
- Masters in Engineering Management programs are designed for students with limited or no work experience. It is recommended for students having not more than 5 years of work experience. Keep in mind that the work experience requirement varies from university to university.
- Pre-requisite programs. Many universities require students to either complete a pre-requisite program or have enough pre-requisite knowledge in advanced technical skills, preferably calculus and statistics.
