- The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Ruhr University is offering the English-language specialization “Sustainable Energy Systems and Circular Process Engineering”
- It is intended to prepare young engineers for one of the greatest challenges of our time: the design of a future, sustainability-based energy system and the associated transformation of the industry from a fossil-based production method to a CO2-neutral circular economy, which is closely linked to the design of the energy transition
- The course content of the new specialization includes courses that deal, for example, with the design of circular processes, the design and control of carbon cycles, relevant energy technologies and the analysis and evaluation of energy systems

Applicants can be admitted to the master's program if they have a qualified degree in a bachelor's degree program in mechanical engineering or in a comparable degree program from a scientific university after at least 6 semesters of study (three years of study, 180 ECTS), which includes a significant portion of mechanical engineering technology Includes coursework

A degree is considered qualified if the applicant is among the top 35% in a graduation period of at least one year or has completed the bachelor's degree with an overall grade of good or very good
- Another entry requirement is proof of method- and research-oriented content amounting to at least 110 credits from the areas “Mathematical/Scientific Basics and Engineering Basics” named in the current study plan. The examination board can determine additional study and examination achievements as well as the period for their provision. A provisional approval is granted for the period of provision
