How To Navigate A College Website For Student Life Information
In the previous article, we discussed looking for academics-related information on college websites. However, don't get caught up looking at only academics related stuff. There is a section on every university website called 'student life' or 'campus life'. This section will give you an idea about the fun part of the foreign university experience.
Look for activities, clubs, and organizations that you are already involved with or explore new options. You'll see information about special events that take place on campus. Do those special events interest you? You will also find information about events and things to do in the area. They could be on campus or off campus activities.
Every university offers some kind of support for international students, but every university offers it differently. This information is usually located on the 'student life' part of the website. Sometimes universities can name it differently, like 'International Student Support' or 'International Scholar and Student Support'. Make sure you take your time to explore the options.

All this information is important because you will be going into a new environment and leaving the support system you have been used to. You should look into what your new support system will look like.
Another option to know life on a college campus is to read the online copy of the college newspaper. It is usually easy to find the online copy of the newspaper. Reading the newspaper will give you an idea about what is important on campus. What are the interests of the student community? What are their complaints? What are they talking about and reflecting on in these articles?
You can also look at the campus media or gallery to learn about the personality of a campus and of the students who attend that college.
All this will be a lot of research and hard work. But remember that this kind of in-depth research is required only for the colleges that interest you. As you get to know these colleges, you will find some universities rising to the top of your shortlisted few, and some other universities will move to the bottom of the list, and you will end up removing some of the universities from your list.
At this point, your college list should be filling up with information and your list of colleges will be even smaller than it was earlier.
