• A Master's program applicant should have a (minimum) 4 year Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or its affiliated college. Accreditation should be by NAAC, AICTE, or the institute should be on the list of Institutes of National Importance. In case of accreditation by AICTE student should include a statement in the application documents from the university confirming the AICTE accreditation.
• A CGPA of at least 8.5 on a 1-10 scale. If your university does not award a CGPA your average mark should be 75%.

•  mathematical proofs (the concept of mathematical proof, elementary proof techniques (induction, contradiction), existence theorems, uniqueness theorems)
• mathematical modeling
• probability theory (continuous and discrete random variables, central limit theorem, law of large numbers, convergence in distribution, moment generating functions, characteristic functions, conditional probability, common probability distributions (normal, binomial, exponent, uniform), joint probability distributions)
• mathematical analysis (real numbers, supremum, infimum, criteria and strict definitions of continuity, differentiability, convergence of sequences and power series, compactness on the real line)

In addition, a solid foundation in additional in-depth knowledge in at least one of the focus areas:

• Discrete mathematics (topics such as advanced algebra, graph theory, cryptology, linear optimization, number theory)
• Mathematical analysis (topics such as ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical analysis, numerical linear algebra, measure theory)
• Probability theory and statistics (topics such as mathematical statistics, regression analysis, stochastic processes, stochastic simulation, stochastic operations research)
