- The Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT) programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a research-oriented academic career, or who wish to enter the IT industry at a higher-than-entry-level position
- The PGDIT programme comprises 5 courses corresponding to one of three specialist topics: Software Development, Information Systems, Networks and Security as well as an Internship element or research or industrial project
- The Software Development specialist topic equips students with the skills to pursue the discipline for analysing requirements and design, implement, test and deploy a software application
- The Information Systems specialist topic deals with the acquisition, storage, transformation and analysis of data and information within a business setting; whereas, the Networks and Security specialist topic deals with the technical issues involved in designing, implementing and administering computer networks
- Each of the specialist topics can be completed via any one of three pathways:
- Research Project pathway requires students to take Research Methods in their first semester
- Industrial project pathway comprises of a two-semester supervised project from local industry
- The programme equips the students with the advanced technical skills, or the skills in independent research, that are required to succeed in their respective career paths
