Study in UK: The first ever Cambridge English Exam was taken by three candidates in the UK in the year June 1913.

100 million Cambridge English Exams And Tests Taken Since 1913

The most trusted English language test, the Cambridge English exam is designed for all levels of English assessment including IELTS, Linguaskill, and Cambridge English Qualifications.

Francesca Woodward, Managing Director for English at Cambridge University Press & Assessment said,This is a proud moment for Cambridge. I am inspired every day by individual stories of learners securing jobs or university places, made possible by Cambridge English exams and qualifications. Even though we operate at scale, it is the individual success stories of teachers and learners that make such a difference. It’s always rewarding to hear what Cambridge English means to them and their families and the enhanced life chances it brings. It’s staggering to think how we’ve gone from humble beginnings of just three candidates in 1913 to 100 million exams taken to date. Our incredible growth has been driven by global recognition of our exams, trust and innovation”.

Cambridge Connects With Local Students

On November 18, around fifty students from Cambridge's seven local secondary schools came to the Press & Assessment’s offices.

Laura Kahwati, Education Manager in Cambridge’s International Education group, who ran the Personal Statements workshop, said,I was incredibly impressed by the active participation of the students. Writing a personal statement is so much more than an application task; it's an exercise in self-reflection and confidence-building. So, it was great to hear pupils reflecting on themselves: their qualities, skills and achievements - and to see them get stuck into the role-play activities! We also had such wonderfully supportive teachers, encouraging their pupils in every task."

Daniel Grimwood, Assistant General Counsel, who interviewed students, said,It was so rewarding seeing the students improve before our eyes. We were told that one of the students was particularly nervous and had been quiet during the morning sessions. This individual started by answering our questions in short sentences whilst looking down at the table. But during the interview their confidence grew and by the end they were giving full and confident responses, demonstrating their skills through personal experiences and maintaining eye contact. I know it can be intimidating coming into a large office building and sitting opposite people you’ve never met to answer questions about yourself, and the students rose to the challenge brilliantly”.
