Australian National University is offering a Global South PhD position through the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship project, Humanitarian Emergencies & Forced Displacement. The application deadline is May 31, 2024.
"We are looking for a Global South applicant for a PhD position at The Australian National University. Candidates with lived experience of displacement are strongly encouraged to apply," reads the official statement.
"This is an exciting opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research as part of a team of academics, practitioners and community partners, and a cohort of young people working on diverse aspects of displacement and humanitarian protection. The PhD scholar will also have the opportunity to learn from and engage with colleagues in the Department of International Relations, which is currently celebrating the 75th anniversary of its establishment as the first IR department in Australia," said the university's statement.
The selected PhD scholar will contribute to the ARC project through a specific focus on collecting and analysing mixed method data from one of the case studies - Europe’s hot spots and refugee 'crisis’, the Horn of Africa emergency, or the Myanmar-Bangladesh Rohingya emergency.
The priority areas on which the scholar will focus include exploitative/forced child labour, sexual abuse, child/early marriages, and trafficking.
