Japan Offers Scholarships To Indian Students; Details Here
The application submission deadline for the scholarship is May 3, 2024. The scholarship will be paid depending on the course enrolled in.
Japan is offering scholarships to Indian students pursuing research under the government of Japan's MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) scholarship programme. The scholarship is available for International students interested in pursuing graduate studies as Research students at Japanese universities.
Scholarships for Indians are offered for the Academic Year 2025. The last date to apply is May 3, 2024. Under this scholarship, MEXT will pay the fees for entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities. If the applicant cannot proceed to the master's course, the entrance examination fee will be borne by the grantees.
Eligibility Requirement
The applicant must be enrolled in a professional graduate course at a graduate school, in a master's course, or a doctoral course or must be conducting research in a specialized field at a graduate school, an undergraduate department, or institute attached to a university, etc., to complete the course. Otherwise, they must be receiving preparatory education in other subjects before placement at the university, etc. (Excluding Young Leaders' Program Students or Teacher Training Students.) or in the Japanese language. Applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1990.
Who all are not eligible
Those who have completed a program with the standard study period of three years or more at universities or equivalent educational institutions in countries other than Japan and received a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree and those who have completed 16 years of school education in countries other than Japan.
Other than these conditions, the applicants are eligible for enrollment in a master's course / doctoral course (first phase) at a Japanese graduate school.
Scholarship Payment Details
The scholarship amount will depend on the course one is enrolled in. The amount of payment may be subject to change each fiscal year. A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for the grantees for conducting research and studying in specially designated regions.
Regular students enrolled in doctoral courses will get 145,000 yen (approx ₹ 78,441) per month, students receiving preparatory education and non-regular students to receive 143,000 yen (approx ₹ 77,358) per month, and regular students enrolled in master's or professional degree courses will get 144,000 yen (approx ₹ 77,902) per month.
