Monash University In Top 100 In World University Rankings By Subject 2025

Australia's top universities have slipped down in the rankings in World University Rankings by Subject 2025. However, Monash University managed to be in the top 100 in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025.

While Australia's universities have not witnessed high ranking in the World University Rankings By Subject 2025, Monash still is in the top 100 in World University Rankings by Subject 2025. Monash University is in the top 50 globally for two subjects including Clinical and Health it is at the 31st position and for the Education category, it is positioned at 19.

The ranking assessed the universities across 11 subjects. These subjects include Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Psychology, Life Sciences, Law, Engineering, Education, Computer Science, Clinical and Health, Business and Economics, and Arts and Humanities.

"Monash’s latest rankings success is another demonstration of the University’s global standing in education and research excellence as well as the dedication of its staff. Last year, the University placed 37th in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and 35th in the US News and World Report Best Global Universities 2024-25," says the Monash University statement.








The University of Melbourne is overall at 39th place this year, and last year it was at 37th position, Monash is at =58, and last year it was at 54. The University of Sydney slipped to one place from 60 last year to 61 this year.

According to Times Higher Education, Australia's top five universities have dropped in positions in the latest ranking due to its declining international outlook and decreasing reputation. The country recently changed its policies for international students to control high migration to the country. Steps are being taken to combat the high migration rate Australia witnessed recently. There is a debate going on in the country about whether the government should implement such changes which will affect the universities ranking internationally and will also harm the sector financially.

Recently, the country replaced the MD 107 with MD 111 to make the student visa processing more even. Universities Australia, the peak body of the university sector, said that the international education sector must be rebuilt on priority, and from January 1, 2025, while applying for student visa in Australia, the applicants need to submit a Confirmation of Enrolment. There are many other changes which makes Australia less welcoming for the international students.
