Queen’s University Belfast offers India Academic Excellence Award Scholarship to 15 students
The prestigious £7,500 scholarship is announced for 15 outstanding Indian students who will start their undergraduate studies at the university in September 2024.
Study in UK: Queen’s University Belfast has announced the India Academic Excellence Award 2024 scholarship. The university is a leading research-intensive university and a member of the prestigious Russell Group.
The prestigious scholarship aims to support outstanding students from India who will begin their full-time undergraduate studies at at Queen's University Belfast in September 2024.
The eligibility criteria are that the student should be Indian and apply to the undergraduate level of education at the university.
Eligible candidates are required to apply online and submit an essay of up to 750 words. The essay should outline why they wish to study at Queen's University Belfast and how the chosen programme will help them achieve their career aspirations. The last date to apply for the scholarship is Friday, 07 June 2024, at 15:00 BST.
The India Academic Excellence Award 2024 scholarship is awarded for the first year of study only and is deducted from gross tuition fees upon enrolment. Students must be self-funded and classified as international fee-paying students paying the full international tuition fee rate with their domicile being India to be considered for this scholarship.
“A total of 15 scholarships are available. The India Academic Excellence Award is exclusively available to students from schools in India, applicants must attend or have attended a school in India and be ordinarily resident in India. To be eligible, applicants must have achieved an overall score of 85% or above in their 12th Grade (CBSE or equivalent) examinations. The award offers a £7,500 reduction in tuition fees for the first year of study,” said the university’s statement.
Queen's University Belfast is committed to providing support to international students, and the India Academic Excellence Award is one of many scholarships offered by the university. The university annually awards £1.5 million worth of scholarships to international students and boasts a global alumni network spanning over 120 countries, added the statement.
Queen's celebrates historic Athena Swan Gold Award
The university today hosted a celebration event in honour of being awarded the prestigious Athena Swan Gold status for its work in promoting gender equality in higher education. It positions Queen's as the second university in the UK and the first on the island of Ireland to receive the distinguished accolade.
“It is incumbent upon all of us – government, public institutions, communities, and individuals – to champion this cause, to stand up for equal rights, and to work towards a future where gender equality is not just an aspiration, but a lived reality," said First Minister Michelle O’Neill.
