Study in Germany: Apply Now for University of Hamburg Merit Scholarships!

The University of Hamburg in Germany offers Merit Scholarships to doctoral researchers and outstanding international students so that they can develop their skills by fully concentrating on the course and not worrying about the fees.
Study Abroad: University of Hamburg is currently accepting applications for Merit Scholarships. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is 15 October and the funding of the scholarship will be from 1 April – 31 March of the following year.
"Merit scholarships are disbursed on the first day of each month of funding. Funding commences on 1 October for the application round ending on 15 April and on 1 April of the following year for the application round ending on 15 October," reads the official statement.
To apply for this scholarship, the students should register on the official website with their student email address and not a private email address. They must also upload various documents while filling out the online application form which includes an updated CV, letter of motivation, and intercultural and social activities proof if applicable. Students in Bachelor's degree programs need to submit either the current transcript of records or the STiNE printout of their "Leistungskonto", those pursuing Master's degree programs and doctoral researchers can provide recent degree certificates with grades in German or English, and evaluations from 2 teaching staff at the University of Hamburg.
The evaluation can be provided by the professors emeriti of the University of Hamburg who are actively teaching, other full-time teaching staff at the University of Hamburg with doctorates, and acting professors. For students in a medical degree program, the evaluation can be given by senior physicians at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.
University of Hamburg Merit Scholarships: Selection Criteria
A selection committee including ASTA (student council) and members of faculties awards these Merit Scholarships and notify the students roughly 8–11 weeks after the application deadline. The following are the selection criteria for the scholarship:
- The academic performance will be considered which should be between good to excellent.
- Other achievements include previous funding, publications, presentations, prizes, and additional specialized skills.
- If they have participated in the social and/or intercultural activities then it will be an added advantage.
- Their need for scholarship and the social situation will also be assessed.
