Study In UK: University Of Bath Partners With South West Life Sciences
The University of Bath has created six spinout companies since 2021. These companies are under the Health and Life Sector including Revolver Therapeutics, Prothea Technologies, EnsiliTech, Ingenium AI, Smartwound, and Transdermal Diagnostics.
Professor Sarah Hainsworth OBE, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise at the University of Bath, said, "The UK is a global hub for Life Sciences and the University of Bath is delighted to be part of South West Life Sciences, a core initiative for increasing inward investment, collaboration and growth. Working with our partners, we will continue to contribute transformational science and innovation for pioneering new treatments and healthcare."
Professor Philip Ingham, Head of Department of Life Sciences at the University of Bath, said, "A common voice for Life Science research in the South-west has long been missing. South West Life Science is an important opportunity to drive awareness and connectivity of all the activity and expertise that exists in the region. Other partners include Science Creates, GW4, Health Innovation West of England, Invest Bristol and Bath, Bristol Trials Centre, Bristol Health Partners, and South West and Wales Advanced Therapies Network.

South West has huge potential for investment and growth. The region has more than 370 life sciences companies which employ around 20,000 people in the life sciences sector.
"The West of England sub region is the third fastest growing life sciences sector in the UK for employment, and its life sciences and technology related ecosystem was valued at £8.1bn in 2022. The South West has made some of the UK’s most exciting advances in life sciences – from accelerating life-saving gene therapy research to launching the UK’s most powerful supercomputer," says the official statement of South West Life Sciences.
