UK PM hopes better skill training of professionals will reduce international migration

The new Labour government is likely to face political and public pressure to curb the high international migration. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said a lack of workplace skills has resulted in the country's dependency on skilled professionals from outside the country. If the UK citizens are given skill-based training it will significantly reduce the UK's dependency on international professionals, added the PM.

While talking about this, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has shown hope that his planned shake-up of training in England is going to reduce the demand for skilled migrant professionals and UK citizens will be able to take up these jobs.

While giving a speech, PM Sir Keir Starmer said that the increased levels of immigration have resulted from a lack of workplace skills in the UK.

He said that the government did not want to criticize the firms that hire international migrants but acknowledged that the skill gaps of the young people of the UK are taking Brits of "dignity of work".

The PM added, "we won't be content just to pull the easy lever of importing skills. We're turning the page on that," as reported by BBC.

Sir Keir Starmer announces £84m of funding for African and Middle Eastern countries

Recently, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced financial support to Africa and the Middle East on humanitarian grounds. He pledged to provide £84m for projects in these countries so that the illegal migration can be stopped at the source. This funding will be rolled out over the next three years to address issues that force people to leave the country.

This funding aims to help Africa and the Middle East for education, and employment opportunities so that the people should not have a compelling situation to leave their country for job opportunities abroad. While speaking at a news conference, he said he wanted to reset the country's approach to handling the issue of migration.
