University Of Massachusetts Amherst VC For Equity And Inclusion Gets Selected For Leadership Award
VC For Equity And Inclusion Marsha McGriff will officially be honoured on January 25, 2025, at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
University Of Massachusetts Amherst vice chancellor for equity and inclusion Marsha McGriff has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Diamond Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Leadership. This award is granted by the Atlanta-based Not Alone Foundation.
The award will be given to her on January 25, 2025, at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
"The Diamond Award was created to celebrate outstanding leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion, which is reflected in McGriff's career of fostering inclusive environments, championing the advancement of marginalized communities, and elevating the voices of Black women in leadership roles," says the university's official statement.
Marsha McGriff Recognized With Numerous Awards And Honours
This is not the first time, she has been awarded and honoured multiple times for her outstanding work. She has earned multiple national accolades and 2024 Individual Leadership Award from the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE).
University Of Massachusetts Amherst Undergraduates Named Fall 2024 Rising Researchers
To recognize their outstanding research, seven of the undergraduates have been named Fall 2024 Rising Researchers.
"There is no doubt these students are making a difference in the world – whether seeking solutions to improve diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, engineering a safer drinking water supply, designing a cutting-edge robot guide dog to help people who are visually impaired, or studying the public’s political opinions to work toward a more representative and equitable society for all," says the university about these students.
The Fall 2024 Rising Researchers are - civil and environmental engineering - Raul Vera ‘24, linguistics and philosophy; Commonwealth Honors College - Thomas Truong ‘25, computer science; Commonwealth Honors College - Shiven Patel ‘26, biomedical engineering - Alexandra Katsoulakis ‘26, medical neurobiology (BDIC) and psychology - Sarah DeAmicis ‘25, political science and psychology; Commonwealth Honors College - Bel Corder ‘25, and biomedical engineering; Commonwealth Honors College - Lily Bigelow ‘25.
