- After completing a Master's degree in Space Systems, students will understand how satellites and space probes are developed and used, within strict requirements set by user needs, technology, operating environment, and economy.
- After completing a master's degree in space systems, students will have achieved the following:
Students have a good understanding of systems that operate in space, their applications, and their social significance.
Students have a good understanding of how the environment in space and the launch situation affect the design, development, and testing of space systems. - Students have in-depth knowledge within certain specialist areas, such as design, development, test, integration, and operation of satellites and satellite systems, and within certain applications of satellite systems.
Students have specialist knowledge within the field of space systems obtained through work on a master's thesis.

- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree comparable to a Norwegian bachelor’s degree
- Degree requirement for India : 4-year bachelor's degree or 3-year bachelor's degree and 1-year master's degree
- Applicants must have a minimum grade average comparable to a Norwegian C in the required specialization. A Norwegian C is described as a good grade, generally comparable to an American B and a Second Class Upper in the British system. We do not use conversion tables for foreign grades. All foreign education is individually evaluated during the admission process.

The required specialization consists of 80 ECTS credits, including a minimum of 30 ECTS credit courses at a basic, Norwegian university level (equivalent to 1000-level UiO courses), and a minimum of 20 ECTS credit courses at the advanced level (2000- and 3000-level UiO courses). The following must be included:
- 10 ECTS credits within mathematics or statistics
- 10 ECTS credits within informatics or cybernetics
- 10 ECTS credits within physics or electronics or mechanics or material science
- 50 ECTS credits within natural sciences selected from up to three of the following fields:
- Mathematics
- Informatics/cybernetics
- Physics
- Electronics
