University of Northern Philippines at the apex in Ilocos region.
Tips: There is a big cultural difference since Filipinos demand honesty and punctuality as fundamental etiquette. They are a very jolly, fun-loving bunch of people but are very obedient in what they do. They are quite open to accepting international students and show tremendous support in accommodation. I didn't avail of any scholarship since usually for international students there are None. I am extremely happy, satisfied and fortunate that I was able to study at this university and stay in the Philippines. The quality of education is at par if not better than most medical colleges in India. The quality of patient exposure that I got is at the level of any postgraduate president.
Likes (Student Life): If you want to pursue medicine in its finest form with strict mentoring and full dedication from professors, this is the right place to be. I enjoyed the camps which were conducted on regular occasions. There are a lot of events organized on a yearly basis which include fashion shows, and sports competitions both at university as well as national levels. There are clubs for international students separately as well as other clubs for the welfare of students and even for anti-ragging.
Dislikes (Part time work): Usually, there is no part-time work available for international students since the course itself takes a lot of time out of your schedule. Also off-campus, I didn't explore any opportunities except after coming back to India and finishing the FMGE exam, getting a job was not that difficult.

A welcoming community for growth and learning.
Tips: Students should be aware of the academic rigour and the level of independence required. It's important to manage time well, as the coursework can be demanding. Familiarity with the campus facilities, available resources, and student organizations can also be helpful. The location and local culture should be considered as well to ensure comfort and adaptability. Transitioning to a new college can be a challenge. Many students experience a cultural shift in terms of academic structure, social norms, and lifestyle. For instance, in some countries, there's a greater focus on self-directed learning compared to others. There might be cultural differences in communication style, food, and social interactions, which take time to get used to. However, these changes also provide opportunities to grow and broaden one's perspective. Satisfaction depends on individual experiences. If the university offers a diverse and enriching environment with helpful professors, modern facilities, and a supportive student community, it can significantly enhance a student's experience. The course should align with one's academic and career goals, and the country's culture, safety, and opportunities for students like internships or part-time jobs also matter. Generally, students feel more satisfied when they find a balance between academics, extracurricular, and personal well-being. Overall, I am satisfied with my experiences.

You need a special work permit if you want a part-time job.
Tips: It is important to be aware of the eligibility requirements before you apply to a medical school, especially if it's outside of your home country. Please ensure you know the application deadline, and if there are application fees. You should make sure your family can support you financially throughout your studies, as well as the costs of relocation and visas, if applicable. Also, if you do get admitted, please keep abreast of the changing NMC rules and regulations regarding foreign medical courses.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I have to say that the quality of the education here is phenomenal. All the teachers are well-educated and practising doctors who are all approachable and welcoming. They also provide us with well-made notes for our reference. On top of that, they let us rotate through the hospitals on their shifts, which gives us a chance to gain real clinical experience. They teach us not only the basics but also the proper ways of interacting with patients.
Dislikes (Part time work): As a student visa holder, you can’t work part-time. That’s because the Philippines considers students to be visitors and requires them to have a special work permit if they want a part-time job. In other words, all you can do is study if you are a student visa holder. That’s because part-time jobs are considered to be working, and those holding student visas are allowed to do no work at all. You can, of course, study as much as you like.

The college is above average and good for studies.
Tips: It's a good place to study, and the atmosphere is good. I did have to deal with a little bit of discrimination from some of my classmates because I'm from another country, but the faculty treated me fine. I did an internship at a hospital set up by the College of Medicine. We've also had short clinical visits to nearby hospitals with different doctors and professors from different subjects. The school is in a nice quiet area, there are some Indian restaurants nearby, and transportation is cheap. The only thing that's not great about the school is the food, and honestly, that's a universal issue. Overall, I'm totally happy with my BS and MD at the University of Northern Philippines.
Likes (Internships): The internship I had at a government hospital in ITRMC involved working with a lot of patients. About 75% of the patients or their bystanders spoke English, which was helpful. It was helpful to have the support of my co-workers and the nurses as well.
Dislikes (Part time work): I can't work part time in the Philippines as a student, which makes this a 1-star experience. Students on student visas can only study. Students on work visas can work, but there's no option for students who want to work part-time, which I feel is a negative.

The quality of education at my college was excellent. It had more practical exposure.
Tips: I had experienced a culture shift. As a foreign student, I was able to interact with a lot of people from that country. It helped me grow in my personality development and functional management, especially to become self-sufficient. It's easy to get public transportation in the Philippines and it's affordable. Local transportation in the Philippines is diverse and caters to different needs, ranging from affordable daily commutes to more comfortable private transport. But taxies and authorised services like Grab are only available in urban areas. Getting an immigrant visa for the Philippines as an Indian citizen can indeed be a bit challenging, as the process involves multiple steps and stringent requirements, especially for long-term stays like work, permanent residence, or family reunification. However, it is not impossible.
