Scholarship Overview

President's Entrance Scholarship are awarded by the Toronto Metropolitan University, which supports students in its academics and research pursuits. President's Entrance Scholarship includes a yearly award of up to CAD 10000, which can be used for the purpose of tuition,accommodation payment only. The scholarship does not include other expenses such as accommodation, living expenses, travel expenses, etc. Toronto Metropolitan University usually looks for candidates with a holistic profile, and not just academic excellence. This scholarship is available to students from all countries. As for the academic eligibility criteria, candidates are expected to have 12th that can prove an academically excellent background. Students also need to appear for the following exams: TOEFL, IELTS and PTE.

Eligibility

Qualifaction requirements:

  • Successful completion of Year 12 of secondary school or its equivalent with overall and individual subject requirements depending on program
  • Arts, Business Management, Creative Industries and Professional Communication- Senior Secondary School Certificate with minimum overall average of 65% in 4 academic senior level subjects + Math 10 score minimum 50%
  • International Economics and Finance- Senior Secondary School Certificate with minimum overall average of 65% in 4 academic senior level subjects + Math 12 score minimum 65%
  • A minimum 90% final admission average is required for consideration.
  • An applicant's average is calculated with their best six Grade 12 U/M courses, or their home country's equivalent. 

English language requirements:

  • All engineering and science program except computer science and architectural science- TOEFL overall score 83. IELTS score 6.5 and PTE score 60. 
  • All other programs including computer science and architectural science- TOEFL score 92, IELTS overall score 6.5 and PTE score 60

Renewal requirements:

  • Recipients who are registered with Ryerson’s Academic Accommodation Support and who are required to take a reduced course load (less than 80%, or less than 4 billing units per term) as part of their academic accommodation plan are eligible to have their scholarship renewed for more than three years until the total potential value of their scholarship has been exhausted.

Application Process for this scholarship

  • An essay or project summary: this may be a piece of creative writing, or a summary of any creative project which applicants may have undertaken. It must reflect their capacity for original thought and creative ability (max 500 words).
  • Two (2) letters of reference:
    1. academic reference letter that confirms your scholastic abilities. This reference may also speak to your leadership/creative endeavours.
    2. reference letter should address your leadership/creative endeavours. It should not verify academic achievement.
  • Leadership activities
  • Applicants are required to apply through AwardSpring
  • TMU Student Number is required to activate their online identity
