For the past decade, St. George's University has been one of the largest providers of new doctors to the U.S. healthcare system, according to the university’s official statement.

St. George's University: Over 930 students secure U.S. Residencies in 2024 Match

St. George's University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, the Caribbean said that over 930 of its students and graduates have secured post-graduate residencies at health centres around the United States in the 2024 match cycle.

Dr. Marios Loukas, Dean of the St. George's University School of Medicine said: "Match Day is a pivotal moment in a new doctor's career. The entire St. George's University community looks forward to this day, and together we congratulate this remarkable class of medical students on their success.”

“Each one of these matched students represents the next step in a dream come true, and each one is a vital addition to the availability of care, and to the medical professional community,” added Dr. Loukas.

This year marked the 10 consecutive year for the university where it proved to be the biggest provider of new doctors to first-year U.S. post-graduate residencies. A total of 23 Indian students have earned placements in residency programs across the United States. The students graduates matched into residences in 22 specialties across 40 states and the District of Columbia. The graduates will commence residency programs in several highly competitive specialities, ranging from urology and neurology to emergency medicine and paediatrics.








28 SGU Students Secure Competitive VIRMP 2024

A total of 28 students and graduates of the university's School of Veterinary Medicine secured competitive internship and residency positions within the 2024 Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program.







The veterinarians of SGU achieved a match rate of 51.8%. From June onwards, the veterinarians will start their specialized training in areas of emergency, small animal internal medicine, surgery, critical care, orthopaedic, dermatology, surgery, medicine and more.
