Founded in 1958 by members of the Catholic women’s religious order, the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters, Alvernia University is located in Reading, Pennsylvania. In total, there are 3 Alvernia University campuses namely Reading, Philadelphia, and Pottsville. The main campus of the university is the Reading campus. Alvernia University campus size is 191 acres. As of Fall 2022, nearly 3,000 students are studying at the university.

Alvernia University Athletics

The intercollegiate teams of Alvernia University are known by the name Golden Wolves. They compete at the NCAA Division III level. Furthermore, since 2008, the university has been a member of the Commonwealth Conference of the Middle Atlantic Conference. The university also competes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Note that the Golden Wolves have made 35 appearances in the NCAA Championship tournaments with men’s basketball making 9 appearances. Other teams with tournament appearances include:

Alvernia University Housing

Housing options are available for Alvernia University first-year as well as graduate students. Only matriculated single students can avail the housing facilities. A few of the residence hall options for first-year students are Veronica Hall, Clare Hall, and Francis Hall. A few of the residence halls available for graduate students are Pacelli Hall, Residences at the John R. Post Center at Reading CollegeTowne, etc. Also, all resident students must have a meal plan. The options to choose a meal plan vary as per the accommodation chosen by students.
