What are the eligibility requirements?

The application fee is determined based on the service type. In addition, the university charges a one-time non-refundable USD 35 application fee that must be paid before an application can be submitted.

Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?

 

The university offers various scholarships to its national and international students. However, international students are not eligible for need-based scholarships provided through the Financial Aid Office.

BYU Scholarships

Every student attending studies at Brigham Young University is eligible for scholarships. Students should apply for relevant scholarships by the required deadline. The details of the scholarships are:

• Russell M. Nelson Scholarship:  A total award of 150% of LDS tuition for eight semesters
• National Merit Scholarship: The merit stipend offered is USD 750-2,000 annually, as per the financial need. The Presidential Scholarship supplements the National Merit stipend to award students with 150% of LDS tuition for all eight semesters.
• Sterling Scholarship Competition: The Sterling Scholar Award Program is offered based on scholastic achievement of high school seniors in the state of Utah.

When do the admissions start?

 

Brigham Young University follows a semester-based calendar and offers admissions in three intakes:

Undergraduate Applications

Undergraduate applicants who apply by the priority deadline will receive extra consideration in the admission process. Due to the limited availability of ACT and SAT testing options, standardized test scores are not required to be submitted by applicants for admission to BYU until Winter 2024. Graduate Deadlines

The university has rolling deadlines for graduate admissions that allows aspirants to apply throughout the year. As soon as admissions for the current intake closes, the application window for the next intake opens.

Thus, students may apply anytime for the upcoming session. However, it is recommended to apply six months in advance before the start of a new academic session as the window for international applicants is most like to close by that time.

Can I work while studying here?

 

The university offers on-campus employment opportunities to its national and international students. International students must submit work permit and employment eligibility documents to BYU International Student Services Office to establish their eligibility for campus employment. International students will not be eligible for student employment if they take a leave of absence or defer enrollment until they return to the school and get enrolled for the required number of credits. International Students Working On-Campus

Students must meet the following criteria of eligibility to work on-campus:

• Must carry at least nine-day continuing credit hours for Fall-Winter semesters unless on an approved vacation allowed by International Student Services
• Must carry either a total of 4.5 credits each term of Spring and Summer Semesters or be on an approved vacation and have a minimum of 9 credits for the following Fall-Winter semester
