Established in the year 1881 for teacher education, Dakota State University (DSU) is amongst the most prestigious institutes of the U.S. In the year 1902, the name was changed from Madison Normal School to Madison State Normal School. Almost two decades later, the name was again changed to Eastern State Normal School.
