East Central University: Courses, Admission, Cost

Established in 1909 as East Central State Normal School, East Central University is a part of the Regional University System of Oklahoma. This public university is situated in the Ada region of Oklahoma, the U.S.A. Apart from that, the other campuses of the institution are at Shawnee, Durant, and McAlester.

The schools and colleges managed by the university are Education and Psychology; School of Nursing; School of Fine Arts imparting liberal arts and social science education; Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business and School of Graduate Studies. ECU offers honors courses, application courses, and certificate courses. A wide choice of subjects is available for bachelor's courses. The certificate courses are conducted in Accounting and Finance; Human Resources Management; Entrepreneurship; Management Information Systems; Marketing Management; Business Administration and Management; International Business, and Trade and Commerce.

The students of ECU have the opportunity to apply for financial aids and scholarships. There are several types of scholarship facilities available; several Foundation Scholarships; Departmental Scholarships; Civic Club and Community Scholarships; High School Specific Scholarships; and ECU Campus Scholarships. The overall academic environment of the institution is commendable. Studded with expert faculty members, well-stocked libraries, well-equipped labs, halls, auditoriums, high-tech classrooms, academic excursion programs, all combinedly contribute to the consistent success of the university. But not only in academia, ECU has also made its mark in the students' lives through multiple active clubs and organizations of the students, based on varied interests.

The Greek Life of the campus is also commendable. There are Academic Success Centre; NASNTI HERITAGE Program; Child Care Resource and Referal Agency; Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning; Addiction Recovery Centre; Environmental Research Apprenticeship Program; Native American Study Centre; Career Centre; Health Services; Counselling Services; IT Assistance; and wellness center. The university also competently maintains several varsity sports teams. The men's teams include Baseball; Basketball; Cross Country; Football; Track and Field. The women's sports include Basketball; Cross Country; Soccer; Softball; Track and Field; Volleyball. The campus houses a soccer field, activity center, softball field, baseball field, and tennis courts.
