- Montserrat College of Art portfolio submission requirements: please submit 12-15 original, finished, pieces of art created during the last two years. 2 or 3 of your submissions must be observational drawing. Observational drawing is drawing from life. Examples would include sketching a bowl of fruit (still life), drawing from a model (figurative), or drawing a street scene (landscape). The image is not taken from either a photograph or the artist’s imagination but from real-life observation. Traditionally the subject matter is rendered as accurately as possible
