UIowa Placement 2019 by College
The placement rate of undergraduate students post-graduation was 92.72%. The university college which yielded the highest placement rate for the graduates was Nursing with the placement rate being 98%. This was followed by Pharmacy with a placement rate of 97%. Engineering obtained the lowest placement rate among the listed college at 92%.

The university believes that hands-on experience helps students in acquiring the skills and traits which is needed to discover suitable career options. Undergoing an internship, studying abroad, taking up research, etc lets them learn in classrooms by giving them a taste of the industries and professional paths in which they have an interest. A total of 1550 internships, practicums, and co-ops were offered in fall 2019 across the university campus. The Handshake platform had about 2,724 internships on offer for the students.
On being asked whether they considered permanent employment with the employer, 57% said yes, 16% said no, and 27% of students said maybe.

The overall median salary for the 2019-2020 graduates was $50,000. $20,000 was the overall minimum salary and $1,40,000 was the overall maximum salary of the students graduating from the University of Iowa.
As per college, the highest median salary was witnessed by students from the College of Engineering with the salary amount being $64,000. This was followed by the Carver College of Medicine with the salary being $55,000. The 3rd position was shared by both the College of Nursing and Tippie College of Business with the wage being $53,000. The university’s Pomerantz Career Centre is recognised for its excellence nationally and offers world-class facilities. Over 20,000 undergraduate students have benefitted from the same. It not only helps students explore their area of interest, talent and skills but also provides them with personal counselling, drop-in-sessions, interviewing guidelines, resume building, and much more.
Coaching Appointments: Students can approach academic advisors to discover and understand the subject they would like to study, the major or minor they would like to opt for and the requirements set up by different professional industries.
Mock Interviews: With the help of mock or sample interviews, students can practice their communication and analytical skills and get a taste of the real-time interview environment. This will help them get acquainted with the types of questions that can be asked when they appear for an interview. The length of the interview is 45 minutes, which includes interviewing and feedback.
